I've never used UPS before, but a buyer insisted I use it (although not til after he won the auction, grrr), so I think fine, whatever, how hard could it be? I go to the web site, type in the info and it lists the price as $22.87!! This is for a small envelope (6"x9" going to Mexico City, Mexico which would be $1.60 USPS airmail.
Does anyone use UPS often? This amount seems very high for me, and I really don't want to use it but the bidder must have his UPS.
Any help or past experiences shared would be appreciated!

That particular amount jives with UPS Office. A one pound pack, DFW to mexico goes for $33.50.
I have had international bidders insist on a particular service even though the cost was astronomical IMO. I had a guy demand DHL even though I do not have a DHL account/discount and it cost $100+ more to ship it on DHL rather than USPS. I had another guy specify fedex to Mexico at nearly triple the cost of USPS.
I always give them a quote and let them decide. Be sure to factor in an amount for time spent as needed. I added an extra $10 for the DHL box since I had to make a special trip across town to the drop box. As long as they are willing to pay, I will send it in whatever method they desire. It's their money!

thanks for the info. it is their money, but it feels so wrong to spend that much to mail! lol! And the item is only about $5, so they're spending 4-5 times more to ship it. yikes!
