Cannot be contacted invalid email address" Bidder responded with" I contacted YOU 3 days after auction end with correct email address" After much consideration I canceled their bid .I just dont want to hassle with it. Hello Bnutt,
There is no right or wrong action. You did what you felt was the best for you. If you feel the need for validation for what you do from others than you really ought to seek it before you take the action.

I had a bidder who had two or three negs because other sellers accused her of not paying. But I e-mailed her and she replied quickly. It turns out that she lives in Canada and mail is pretty slow from there.
She ended up sending payment via their version of priority to get it here and even that took DAYS!
I know I have had some negative experiences, but if NONE of us sold to anyone who had one bad feedback, they can never be a full member of the ebay community. I would rather take a chance on someone not paying and if they do not contact me in 3 days, I would just file for FVF and relist.
But then again I am a casual seller, so I do not mind waiting. This is my first post after lurking here forever!

Just a thought: perhaps you should have given bidder the benefit of the doubt, as sometimes, Email Programs are down or something prevents mail from getting through..
So far I have not had a NEG, yet had one of my customers chosen to, he would have had every right: All the Emails I sent him regarding a very expensive piece of Pottery he had won, kept bouncing back...I was giving him plenty of time...Thank goodness, he ended up pulling my Info and phoning me from New York...I then phoned Mindspring, my ISP, and found out that, through a glitch of their software, mail to/from certain ISP's was bouncing... So, you see, there are always two sides to a coin...JMHO.

The only reason I cancelled her bid was to get her to email me. She has a -1 fb rating and I did try to contact her early last week and the mail bounced back . I have tried 2 X since and the mail bounced back then also. If I could have reached her I would have let the bid stay. I do not normally let anyone with minus feedback bid on my auctions as 99% of the time they have been deadbeats. I wasnt trying to get approval, because I already did it. I wanted an opinion just in case I am faced with the same situation again. Sorry it fell to some as A "help" situation.I thought that this was what this forum was for .If you don't feel like answering the post then just move on.
Bonnie
May I reiterate that she had -1 total fb rating, and everyone of her emails has bounced back to me.
posted on February 7, 2001 11:08:53 AMbnutt...I was in no way criticizing your move... Just stated an opinion, as I did not know you had contacted bidder so often...What does the personal info say? If they left mis-leading contact info, you can turn bidder over to safeharbor...
If you feel you did the right thing, then...you did

Shoshanah,
I wasnt referring to you . I got a nasty email and was posting to that person..
I was just curious how others would have handled it. It will not make a difference either way now just curious for further dates when this may arise.
