I don't accept personal checks. I got burned and now I don't even want to take the chance of depositing them. The high bidder on one of my auctions chose to ignore my terms and the clearly stated "no personal checks" in my shipping info e-mail. She sent a check anyway. I kindly requested she use one of the payment methods accepted and I would return her check with the item. There was no way I would even consider bending my policy since her feedback was minimal. She promptly posted my first negative feedback and stated she would not buy the item. Since non-compliance with auction terms is cause for fee credit I assumed that Ebay would be willing to remove this uncalled for feedback. I was wrong. Does anybody else have a similiar experience?

I did appeal their decision and basically they told me "tough luck". To make matters worse, when I filed the non-paying bidder this person threatened me!
99% of my transaction have been positive experiences, though this has dampened my enthusiasm. It seems anyone can damage your reputation for any reason without suffering consequences.

Next time throw the check in the garbage, pretend it never arrived, and inform the high bidder they should put a trace on their Money Order, so they can get a full refund. Oh ya, and send you another MO to replace the lost one.
