I recently sold a pair of small gold plated tomato earrings for $65. There were 14 bids, mostly coming from 2 bidders who got in a bidding war in the last couple of minutes.
After 3 weeks and no payment, I contacted the winner and asked about the payment. The high bidder told me that she took a second look at the picture and realized that the earrings are apples--not tomatoes---and since she collects tomato-type items, she was no longer interested in them. I told her that they were in fact tomatoes and that she had to honor her bid.
Finally after 2 more days, she e-mailed me back saying that if she knew the earrings were some fruit, she would not have bid. I patiently explained that; A) they ARE tomatoes, B) she bid and has to honor that bid, and C) a tomato IS a fruit.
She is now threatening retaliatory negative feedback if I neg her. Also, to make matters worse, she has placed a bid on one of my items currently up--it's a sugar bowl in the shape of a tomato. God only knows what she will see it as after she wins it.
By the way, I did contact the second bidder, who seemed interested. What does concern me though, is that I searched some of the items that bidder was bidding on, and they were apple and grape-type items, no tomatoes.
I could just move on and not chance the neg--or I could give her the neg she deserves and cancel her other bid. Either way I have too many other auctions to worry about to spend much more time on this nut.
Any ideas?

Man. I've been looking for a rutabega belly button ring and all I can find are TURNIPS!!!
What KIND of Tomatoes were they?? Beefsteak, Big Boy, WHAT??
I would make peace with the Lady and just to show there are no hard feelings I'd go find a half bushel of the ripest tomatoes I could find (might even want to ripen them just a wee bit more) and send them to her, book rate. That should take about a week...maybe more.
There's your ketchup.
I wonder if Oxy clean would get that out??

Please edit out the second line of your signature about PMS and refrain from using it - it's offensive and derogatory towards women.

Jerry, Glad to see you have moved on from cows and oxen to produce.
Did you look up the earrings in the Burpee catalogue before you listed them ? Are you really sure they are tomatoes ??

Just a factual observation ladies. You are driven crazy by your hormones a few days a month and we men just stay flipped out clean through the whole month............

Gentlemen: The subject is tomatoes.
Here is a thought for you to ponder before you offer comments, observations, and
opinions about luten cycles.
Is there a guy alive who believes that a female really knows what it feels like to be
kicked in the groin?
No? Well when you do you will be entitled to make PMS comments. (You can stop
crouching over now).

I say turn her into ketchup. Even if she does give you a negative, I'm sure it will sound crazy, and you can reply with the truth. Definately cancel her new bid too.
As a woman who goes crazy a few days a month, I laughed at the mad cow thing. It was funny, and in my experience, not far from the truth.

Wasn't it Steven Wright that said "Never trust anything that bleeds for 7 days and lives."?
As far as Jerry12's bidder, it is obvious that she is confused about tomatoes and apples. They are both a fruit actually. Leave a factual Neg..."Buyer not only collects Fruit, She is one"
Welcome Back Jerry, where ya been?

Here is my advice. Don't get too personal! Offer the apples to the first bidder. If this back out bidder person wants your sugar bowl, and has the cash, sell it and move on!! Are you here to teach manners or to make a profit??? Sounds to me that if the no. 2 person will buy the golden delisch apple rings for their highest bid you might be doing better than if you relist. Forget negative feedbacks unless you actually are out cash (cash is money you have stuffed into an envelope and sent to someone)! It's not worth the harm to your reputation.
Prepare for the worst but hope for the best!! Spuddy98
