I accept cash, money orders, checks, Paypal, etc. I was just wondering what the consensus is on this. Say you receive payments for orders within a three day period--some Paypal, some checks, some money orders, etc. Do you ALWAYS ship the Paypal items first? Or do you go by when you received the payment? (For this example, let's assume a check hold is not necessary.) I'm wondering if PayPalers expect to always be moved to the front of the line. Is that fair?

Everybody gets equal treatment from me. I take all the mail and electronic payments that arrive that day, pack the items that evening and mail them the next morning (or next business day).

I never get so many at one time that I can't mail everything out the day after I receive payment, but if I did, I'd send them out in the order the payment arrived. The method of payment would have nothing to do with it.

edited to add...

I'm wondering if PayPalers expect to always be moved to the front of the line.

That kind of reminds me of what happens in stores sometimes with customers calling on the phone. There's nothing I hate more than having a salesman tell me to wait just a minute while he answers the phone and proceeds to help someone while I stand there.

You want faster shipping? Get your payment in sooner.

Here is what I do. I make invoices after each payment I get in the following order:

1) I look for online payments (PayPal, Billpoint, ect...)

2) I look at the payments that I get in the mail.

If would not matter if I got the mail first. It is just my personal preference.

I still ship out the items the same day that I receive them.

mrpotatoheadd, I hate the phone bit in the stores also, I usually ask the sales person to put the phone on hold and wait on me, as I was there first. If they don't I have been known to leave the merchandise on the counter and walk out, (or if it is a larger store, walk to customer server and complain to a manager).

Electronic payments are processed first. They are easiest to process since I can extract and print their mailing address quickly. Money order second. Although I have never received a bounced check, I tell buyers to wait 3-5 business days for check to clear if I have too many orders to fill.

No difference here -- whoever gets their money to me first, gets their product.

Equal treatment from me also. Whenever I recieve a check from someone's who feedback is less than 25, it is my policy to hold the check 7-10 days, then I ship it out.

If buyers happens to catch me before my postal run, I package and ship out same day for PP or BP. Otherwise, next day.
