I recently had a Canadian buyer send me a personal check (even though I asked her not to). It was a normal personal check on her Canadian checking account, but next to the amount box she wrote U.S. Dollars. She insisted that this could be cashed in an American bank for U.S. dollars.
Of course no bank down here in Louisiana would touch it. I had to ask her to resend a payment in one of the ways I originally asked for.
Maybe this is something that is commonly done in states close to the Canadian border? Or do you think she's a few french fries short of a happy meal?

Her bank will charge her a whomping big service charge to negotiate her cheque--but it is something that can be done if the receiver can accept it that way. It's just a real dumb way for her to do it if she thinks she saving any money not buying a Postal Money order.
Just tell her that your bank is going to charge you a huge amount to cash it so you are unable to accept it
