You know how you hear those stories about someone finding something for a quarter and then selling it for $1,000? Well, this is not quite that but is probably as close as I will ever come. After all the talk about not being able to find anything at Goodwill, think again.
The conga line starts here!

Congratulations!
I would never even have thought to pick that up let alone buy it!
I was happy because a kids' book I bought at Goodwill for 29 cents sold for just over $30.00!

The really sad part about this is that the item has been sitting here for at least a year. It just wasn't "exciting" enough to me so I had put off listing it. I'm out searching for "dull" items now!

WOW! Way to go! I am so curious as to why this record would be worth so much..

I just had that happen to me too. I bought a lot of videotapes. I paid $100 for 63 videotapes (movies, sports, etc) and when you averaged it out it came to $1.53 a tape. So I took this one tape, put it up for auction and started it at $9.99 and in the final 10 seconds of the 10 day auction it went for $202.50!!!! I just received the money order also. WWWHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Plus there are a lot more old tapes that are worth more.

Hey vinnie! What was the tape - if you can say...? Just in case I was to ever come across junk - I might be able to recognize a "potential" - thanks!

sharkbaby: I would like to know the answer to that too. However, after I asked a buyer once how come they were willing to pay so much for an item, I decided to never ask that question again. I have just decided to go with the motto: There's somebody out there that collects most anything.
There is something about a guy who has over 300 electric mixers in his collection, not to mention all of the blenders, toasters, vacuum cleaners, coffee pots, etc. that scares the dickens out of me. I guess I figure that if someone could obsessively collect such dull items as toasters and mixers, I don't want to know about the other "more exciting" collectibles.

Update: My high bidder is in Japan and contacted me promptly so I have no reason to believe this auction won't turn out just fine.
Perhaps disco is just getting big in Japan and that is why this item was so desirable. Just a theory.
