I am considering selling some framed prints on eBay. A number of them are fairly large -- 20" x 20", 24" x 30", etc. I was wondering if any of you folks could tell me the best, safest and least expensive way to ship them. I don't suspect that they will fetch high dollars, so I don't want to spend a fortune shipping them. Any thoughts or comments would be sincerely appreciated!
Large framed prints like that are incredibly difficult to pack. Even if you've encased it in a brick of foam, a good drop from a shipping carrier could cause the glass to break from shock. Your best bet is probably to have Mailbox Etc or some other shipping company do the work for you. They typically have a guarantee on their packing, so you'll be sure to have it either get there, or you'll get money back for your item. If you try to pack it yourself, and then try to claim on insurance through USPS or UPS, you're likely to be told it wasn't adequetly packed. Of course, the other option is to remove the prints from the frames and let the bidder worry about finding the frame when they get the print. Then, all you'll have to do is ship a rolled up print. (much easier!) Good luck!

You might want to check out any large web printing shops. They receive Kodak boxes that are extremely sturdy and the right size for frames. They often just throw these away.
