they must have a rating under 10.....you have to be a 10+ before your feedback will count towards the rating........it does count towards your total..if you clkick on your feedback rating number you will see your total feedbacks.......

Uh, pacoferrone
That's not quite right...

LouBega2000, if the customer previously has left you feedback, the feedback next to your name won't go up. If you check the feedback card, it will reflect the additional feedback. The number shown next to your name is "unique" users that left you feedback. You can get 100 feedbacks from the same user, but your rating (next to your name) will only increase by one.

I have never heard of the "under 10" thing before. Each new feedback is a unique number rating. If the person leaving the feedback is a repeat customer their feedback won't show in the number beside your name but it will show on the card when you click into their feedback profile.

i can't be imagining the under 10 thing......can i???? no way.......you have to be a 10 before your feedback counts towards what we all call our rating....the number behind your name........tell me my memory is not shot........

I had an ex boyfriend think I was a 10

Seriously though, can you find something on eBay verifying what you are saying about the under 10 thing? Feedback is feedback, it all counts.

I think you were dreaming the "10" feedback thing.. All feedback counts, even feedback from a "new" user.

(which is why many users get frustrated with new users who are non-paying bidders or sport bidders) They can rack up negatives and LEAVE NEGATIVES and then get suspended only to "reappear" with a new and improved CLEAN feedback rating, leaving their trail of damage behind.

It used to be that you couldn't list Dutch auctions until you hit 10, and you must have been a member for 60 days. I assume it is still that way.

Feedback counts no matter where your particular count is, unless, as already mentioned, the buyer had bought before and had already left a feedback. Then it counts towards your total, but not the Net number that shows by your name.

he must not have been too bright if you're a 10 aND he is an ex...unless you took out the trash..........as for the 10 thing i have no clue where to look but could have sworn it was true.....but of course i am allowed one mistake a year...i just hate to use it up so early, that puts all the pressure on me for 10 more months....i am not giving up i say i am correct..........for instance my rating behing my ID is 857, but i have 997 positives from unique users.......and only 5 negs and 3 neutrals from naru'd users.......so if what you say is true then i should have a rating n=behind my user id of more than 857 unless i bought or sold to over 100 people more than once......and that sure did not happen.,heck the more i think about it the more i say i am right........somebody help me out

Feedback How does it work?
Every time you are the winning bidder or seller in an eBay auction, you can give feedback to your trading partner. These comments can be positive, negative, or neutral, depending on your experience. All feedback that eBay members receive is captured in their Feedback Profile.

Next to a member's User ID, you will always find a number in parentheses ( ). This number is his or her Feedback Rating. For example: Skippy (125) means that a member's User ID is Skippy and that they have received a balance of 125 feedback comments from other eBay members.

The Feedback Rating system is easy. You receive:

+1 point for each positive comment
0 points for each neutral comment
-1 point for each negative comment
A star icon for 10 or more comments. Click the star to see what each star color means.
You can leave multiple comments in someone's Feedback Profile, but they'll only count once. This makes the system fair. No one person can "tip the scales" in either feedback direction, positive or negative

nice post but you still did not refute my statement, only confirmed yours which was not in doubt..........hey lucy splain to me wht i have a 150 number difference in my fb versus total positives left.......can ya do that...i can , its because under 10s do not make your little number rise.........if i am wrong i am digging a big hole

Paco...what's your eBay id? If you have that many feedbacks, you most likely have a good amount of repeat buyers.

And what's with the attitude?

Feedback you LEFT has nothing to do with Feedback you RECEIVE. Each and every feedback counts, whether you are a newbie with 0 or a powerseller with a shooting star. As I pointed out, each and every feedback counts in the total on the feedback card, but only "unique" users count in the overall rating.

It's hard to disprove your point, because it's something you dreamed up and isn't on eBay at all....

Because of the rules of the board, I can't show you users to disprove your "theory".

my user ID is not important here.......i ahve not had over 140 repeat buyers......just because i have have an 800 plus rating means nothing about my buyers....i also buy and probably 1/3 of my fb is as a buyer.....your point is pointless

and why would you be able to tell me something about my buyers i do not already know?????..........your time would be better spent researching the truth about the 10 feedback thing not worrying about my feedback and how i can't figure it out.........

pacoferrone -

I think you just have a lot of repeat buyers (good for you!) - you only get one feedback per id that counts towards your feedback rating, no matter how many thousands of things you sell that one person. So if someone bought 6 things from you and left 6 feedbacks ALL of them would count towards the bit where it says 'positives' in green on the feedback page, but only *one* of them would count towards your feedback number.

I have a relatively low feedback at the moment, so I'm noticing each and every one as I climb my way up, and someone with 8 feedback gave me a positive recently, and it *definitely* counted towards my overall number.

If you do Dutch auctions, and the same buyer wins a bunch, they can leave multiple feedbacks too, but it only raises your Net by 1.

And I did go to eBay and read up on the Feedback. I saw nothing supporting your post.

My feedback was 405 on 2-14 (I remember looking), and I just now checked again. It is at 407, having received 5 positives yesterday, 4 from user A with a 219 rating and 1 from user B with a 6 rating.

So...

405 + 4 from user A (but only one counts) = 406
406 + 1 from user B = 407

Apparently (at least in my case), users with a rating under 10 are able to leave feedback.

LouBega2000..sorry about all of that...it really got screwed around. The person that just left FB for you was probably a repeat buyer? If so, then the number beside your username will remain the same.

Anyone can leave FB, regardless of whether you have 10 fbs or not. Period.

pacoferrone, you said you buy also, have you purchased multiple items from the same seller? When the seller leaves you feedback, this would incress you total number, but not your overall rating.

Can you not just accept that you are wrong? You have been asked several times to find the "rule" you are imagining in the eBay FAQ and you have not. Every single feedback counts towards a total rating. You only get one number raised (or lowered) with a positive or negative if the same user is leaving you more than one feedback. If someone buys 14 items from me and I leave them 14 positive feedbacks, their TOTAL amount on their card will go up 14. The number beside their name will go up by 1, irregardless of how many feedbacks they have whether it be none, 1, 8 or 800.

I have had plenty of under 10 feedback users leave me feedback and each and every one of the unique ones added a new point to my feedback rating. So if this under 10 thing is true, it's only true for Pacoferrone!
