I have spent the better part of this afternoon sorting through some football, basketball and baseball trading cards (mostly from 1993/1994) and trying to figure out what I have. I decided to go through and put together a set from the series, pulling out any duplicates. I was going to list these as partial sets.

Example: I have 136 cards from a set of 206, so about 70 of them are missing.

I typed up a list of all 136 cards with the name of the person on the front and the card number from the series. The list was rather lengthy as you can imagine.

I would like advice from experience sellers or buyers on the best way to list these cards. I don't know if I should go to the Beckett site and pay the fee for a month's membership and run each one of these individually through their search or what? It doesn't seem feasible to make a list of every card either.

As you can see, I really do need some advice and direction.

Ebay is a great price guide. Just do a search and see what they're worth. If some or all of them aren't even on ebay, then they're likely worth very little. If they're worth a lot, list them individually. Otherwise, you'll probably want to list them as one big lot.

I did the same exercise today -- I've got a bunch of cards and looked -- it seemed that the cards I had (91 - 93) were worth more individually -- the whole set was going for only $7!

Thanks! I guess I will try looking tomorrow for individual prices.

There's a free card price guide at www.tuffstuffonline.com you just need to register and activate membership.

auctionqueenie: Great site, it is now bookmarked for me!

While I had some hopes of finding that "big ticket" card in these boxes, I actually found quite a few that are worth (according to that site) $1 to $5.

I have one more question for you knowledgeable people as I could not find anything about these cards on the site. I have a small amount of cards that are Topps Finest. They have a peel and remove protector on the top. Is there a technical term for this protector?

There is no set term for it. Some people call just say the coating or protector is still on the card. I use both when I do mine. It just depends on what i feel like typing at the time.
Also, since you appear to be talking about Topps Finest cards. One thing you might want to check for is if you have what they call a Refractor. Depending on the year of the card, it will say refractor just under or around the card number. I think there was one or two years where they just used a R to state it was one. If you want to be sure, take the cards and get in an area with a strong light. If you see that one appears shinier(sp?) than another one, then you have one. Ths makes the card worth more. These are hard to explain in a way. Hope I wrote well enough.
Anymore questions feel free to write.
Thanks,
Shawn
