I just want to say that I am leaving Auction Watch for good, and this is my last post. I am leaving because I refuse to be victimized by the horrid colors they use on all their pages any longer. And also I dont like their logo - a big W with an A in the middle...absolutely horrid!

I recognize that Auction Watch can make their pages any color they want but I think the time has come for them to clue in to the fact that very few people like these annoying colors they use - green and blue....horrid!

Since Auction Watch can't gain some control over the color of its pages and the horrid logo they display, I will go elsewhere where I am not bombarded by this kind of crap!

It's been a slice. Goodbye all!

Bubblewrap

NOT!

LOL!

I love AW, I love the casino banners (they help keep it free), I love the logo, I love the blue and green. Keep bombarding me... as long as you keep it free!

Now that was a strange post. I don't mind the banners, someone has to pay for all this good stuff.

I love Auction Watch. I just put in my own html coding and my ads looks great. You don't have to use their templates, you can make up your own. It's easy just go to pongo and you can come up with some really great looking ads.

I've become very iritated with that music I've been hearing on Auction Watch. How many times do you expect me to listen to "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" or "London Bridge Is Falling Down". I keep looking for some reasoning to have them add music to their web page and I can find none. I wonder if this is bothering anyone else as much as me.

Oops, seems like the music might be coming from my daughter's electric swing... Nevermind.

ads? What ads at the top of the page?
I don't have any ads anywhere!

Editing your hosts file usually takes care of them!

<wisdom>

If you don't like the flashing ads just press escape, it stops them. Simple enough.

That's cool, Mark. So I should hit the escape key every time I load an AW page?

AW may be free, but they are selling us gambling, which is a vice just like cigarettes, booze or prostitution. I think any caring person should re-evaluate their position regarding a web site that promotes sin.

JMHO.

Yep, all that sinful advertising is at fault.

Or, so some would have you believe.

They're just ads. I don't believe there is any subliminal message enticing one to go forth and sin.

You don't have to see the ads if you don't want to. I have a neurological problem and the flashing and jumping is really hard on my brain. Some are much more offensive than others, either in content or in design. I run AdSubract and don't see them. Hitting ESC for each page gets old real fast, and if you hit ESC while typing a response or post, POOF, your text will go by-by.

Cigarettes, booze, prostitution and gambling are vices??????

Does this mean I have to quit drinking and playing poker with all the hookers at our "quitting smoking" group (we switched from cigarettes to cigars, gotta take baby steps ya know).

Hey!

WHAT'S WRONG with BOOZE and PROSTITUTION???

Next thing ya know, they'll try to ban MONKEY-PORN -- some PROGRESSIVE PRIMATE POLITICALLY CORRECT simian sin-buster will start foaming about the ape-exploiution scene!

I will have to admit, not much bothers me - but the Casino ad does - I have tried to click it off but that only takes you to that site....I find it extremely distracting, irritating and annoying.

On a previous thread here (month ago?)someone told how to turn the animation off - Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Multi-media, uncheck play animation. Appreciated the tip. Thanks to whoever.
But...
Meya, are you there? Could this be causing my drop menu problem? Hmmmmm

Hi CrayBaby. I'm not sure, try turning the animations back on and see. I run AdSubract most of the time myself.

Since posting to this thread, I notice the BlackJack Casino ads have almost disappeared. Several new ones have appeared, including American Express and a couple others. I think those ads are much better, and less offending than gambling, or photos of nazi war criminals (which we dealt with last time).

I would like to think that AW responded to users' concerns - and I hope AW continues to support tasteful and acceptable advertising.

Thank you very much.

JMHO but a little sin keeps life a whole lot more interesting. It takes a heck (wanted to say He** but that would be another sin and I better keep myself in check here) of a lot more than flashing banners to irritate me, but I guess I also have a little more perspective in general.

AuctionWatch has become one of my favorite sites and this board in particular is a great (ahem) time waster while I sit here pretending to work. Ok, not a time waster-- all of you folks have taught me a lot in a short time! You are all professors of the auction world and I am but a lowly student hanging on your every word....

Now what were we talking about? I can't remember anymore.
