Hi, I'm pretty new to the message board and have been selling on eBay for a few months.
I was wondering if anyone could give me advise on how to create an effective about me page.
I'm currently in the process of applying for a business permit and a tax ID number and will be doing some serious auctioning in the coming months.
I want to have a good about me page but I really don't know what to put up there. I was reading another thread that was discussing the pros and cons of having one.
As a frequent buyer, I think I've looked at maybe one or two about me pages, it just doesn't interest me, but according to the thread, lots of people do look.
Any advice or suggestions are welcome. Including business advice (hin, hint, power sellers)

I think it depends on what you sell. If everything you sell is one of a kind, you might have strict terms on there but if you resell items that you purchase in bulk, its not that big of a hassle to offer refunds because you can get the item returned anyway so you should just keep it simple (can anyone say RUN-ON?).
I would try to stay as personal as possible. Some people read your about me page just to find out who you are. I ruined mine with a load of terms that are never read. I recently went back to a simpler about me page and posted my terms on my website.

Put freebies or incentives on your page, then link to it from all your auctions. Give bidders a reason to look. Do whatever you want. Add photos of your cat, or provide links to your auctions, whatever. I rotate links to free software on my About Me page. It cost me nothing, and gives customers a reason to keep coming back.

If your thinking of doing serious selling you might concider useing your about me page as a sales tool since all you auction and feed back are veiwable on your about me page you might just want a breif inorduction of your business and add a photo gallery on the about me page of some of the Items you have listed or will be listed in the weeks to come and promote your about me page like an online ebay store maybe if you have a web page with other items for sale you could also have that link on your about me page.
then when you tell people about your ebay sales give them the URL for your about me page.
This is one way around many of the ebay rules about linking to your other online business in your auctions. http://www.Dman-N-Company.com

Is it against eBay policies to put a "storefront" in your About Me page? Basically, I am thinking of putting the home.html of a storefront as the About Me page.
