I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm very worried that Ebay's new agreement to allow Fairmarket merchant's access to Ebay could completely change Ebay's climate, making it difficult or impossible for the traditional ebay seller to make a profit. It seems as if this move will bring in new sellers with very deep pockets and discounted merchandise, but not new buyers. What are your feelings on this issue?

I feel some of E-bay sellers, the ones primarily selling new items need to be concerned about this now and especially down the road. What Fairmarket and its clients were lacking was customers. Now they have the best of both worlds. Fairmarket makes it easy for them to sell there surplus inventory and now they have 22 million E-bay customers to reach. If this works for the current customers of Fairmarket the skys the limit on who may sign up next. Maybe the source of your products or a company that has similar inventory. If companys see they can improve there bottom line they will sign up. ValueVision International a national home shopping network will be one of the first Fairmarket clients to try the partnership. I am sure there inventory may be somewhat similiar to some of E-bays sellers. Even if it is not if ther products are a better value the customer will buy from them, less for the E-bay seller. As far as bringing new customers to E-bay I think it will especially if the clients Fairmarket sign up are well known such as J.C Pennys one of its clients already. 4 million visitors spent an average of 22.3 minutes on J.C. Pennys site in January 2001 according to PC Data. What does a person need to do? Maybe consider different types of items to sell. Time will tell.

I guess they are finally seeing how successful that you can be by selling on ebay.

For stores like Walmart and JC Pennys, they should stay off ebay. They already have 100s of brick stores and a website. Let us have ebay.

I am starting to wonder if any sellers on E-bay knows about the partership with Fairmarket and how it may affect there business. Might have to rename the message post to grab ther attention. Lets see... lots of titles come to mind... Wait and see what happens.

I am getting worried now. What can ebay sellers do about this Fairmarket agreement. Is this really fair to the ebay sellers?
