I have a buyer who left positive feedback, but for some reason felt the need to include my real name. Why? This person is not new. I'd think they would know better than to include personal info in feedback. Why couldn't they have referred to me by my ID name?

I know I shouldn't let it bother me so much since it was an enthusiastic positive, but if I want to broadcast my name I'll put it on my "me" page. I purposely use an ID on ebay that disguises the fact I'm a woman.

Any suggestions? I don't want my name on the feedback page, but I don't want to get the buyer in trouble.

Read this:

If you contact eBay, they will remove that feedback.

Users hardly read positives. It is the negatives you have to worry about.

Don't even worry about it. It will be buried soon if you sell alot.

I wouldn't worry too much. As "Cix" said it will soon be buried by more feedback. I have 300+ and only a few of them have my name in them. Funny though, those few were way back in the beginning when I was just getting started. The last couple hundred have made no mention of my name. Don't worry too much. People usually skim over the positives looking for the negatives.

Good Luck!

astraea: I've seen names on several feedback's. I've had people post my first name but I don't believe they mean any harm.
People don't always post the correct names either. Some have posted my first name wrong (even though I put my name at the end of each email.) If you were to look at my feedback, I now have 3 different names posted in them
Hope that makes you feel a bit better to know that most people don't give much weight to the names in feedbacks and I agree with cix and justbijou, that feedback will eventually get "buried".
If this still upsets you, then maybe you will want to email eBay for it's removal as reddeer has suggested. I'm not sure if they would email your customer though. Anyone know?

I hope you won't let that feedback bother you to much.

I hate it when people use my name when leaving feedback!

Does anybody know if eBay will remove the feedback if it's only my first name that's used?

I've had plenty of people use my name. It doesn't bother me, since anyone checking my feedback is probably going to be doing business with me anyway, and will find out who I am. When you're buying and selling on eBay, you give your real name and address to hundreds of people. I always thought it was a nice touch and personalized the feedback.

Honestly does it cause that much harm if they leave your first name, I get it all the time, course my ebay ID is my email address, with my first name in it.

Now if they put your first and last name in it, then that would be different.

I see first names all the time in feedback, and don't think anything about it. Some even 'sign' their feedback..... like 'Thanks from George in NY' or something.

I have my first name in a ton of my feedback (over 1000 fbs, and quite a few have Thanks XXXXX!!! or something like that in it)

They are not giving my last name, address and phone # at least!

Yes, eBay considers a FIRST name to be a RL name, and will remove the feedback. I've seen it done.

Honestly Though if you want to remain unknown
Earth is no place to be I mean The frist thing that happens when your born is some strangers you never met before gives you a Real name.

I mean how is it these stragers you never met before know this is your real name they say they are your parrents one claims to be your mother gave birth to you but there is doubt since over your life time you cant remember witnessing this birth your self infact search the archive of your mind as you do you cant even find a memmory of how you got here.

So to you I give this advice about Real names in your ebay feed back, Relax because the people who put this so called real name in your feed back dont know and cant prove its your real name no more then you can.

And know you know the rest of the story

Thanks for the reply reddeer!

A few of the areas I collect in are very competitive. At one point I seemed to be clashing head-to-head with a specific handful of other bidders, and thought perhaps some of the bidders were driving prices up just because they knew my ID and were tired of me winning the items they wanted! I set up a second bidding ID so I could buy more without my competition knowing. I typically use my first ID to snipe the stuff I gotta have, and with my second ID I put in lowball proxy bids to sweep thru and pick up anything that no one else seems to want.

When you collect a lot of items in a specific area, you do tend to see the same User ID's competing with you again and again. I sometimes root around to learn as much about my competition as possible, and I figure others do the same. I just like to leave as few clues for them as possible.

This happens
There was another thread about it a few weeks ago.

Simple solution: Use a different name, or initials in your communications. If you don't want your real name out there then don't send it out there.
