I normally use Verbatim DataLife floppies that have the metal sleeve, but couldn't get my hands on any so I picked up a pack of Memorex instead.
BIG mistake. They have plastic sleeves instead of metal, & I just spent the past 30 minutes carefully removing the pastic sleeve from the inside of my Sony FD73 after the plastic sleeve came off inside my camera.
Just a FYI for those of you who use Sony cameras.

Geesh, OK thanks for the heads up. It appears that the plastic got snagged up inside the camera, & then pulled free of the floppy. I think I'll still stick with the ones with metal sleeves.
This is the first problem I've had with my Sony, and it's also the first batch of plastic sleeved floppies I've used.

I think this may be a problem with the fd73.
It happened to me after nine months of using Sony metal sleeved disks.
It cost me 150.00 to get it fixed.
This same thing also happened to my mother inlaw.
I went round and round with Sony but I lost, the floppy release mechanism on the camera (imo) is cheap.
I will never buy another Sony that uses floppys.

Well, add me to that list....I about had a heart attack the first time it happened....I "operated" for quite awhile to get that sleeve out and luckily did not have any camera damage....but I am REALLY observant as to how loose it is now when I put one in. Pam

red: I had the plastic sleeves come off in my floppy-copier as well.
The Memorex floppies with the flimsy plastic sheilds suck big time.
I have (15) 100 packs sitting here.
Bought em while waiting for a shipment to arrive.
Won't use em, won't sell em, won't give em away.
Don't hate anyone THAT much...

Thanks so much for that information!I have never had that problem....yet!I will be sure to be more observant of this now.I use AT&T floppies and have never had a problem so far but it is nice to know about the Memorex as i wil avoid them.

Pocono ..... Ok, I already gave them to my kid to take to school.
I've had no problem with Verbatim & Fujifilm, but both of those have metal sleeves.
It was NOT a pleasant way to wake up this morning.

Had a memorex floppy stick in my floppy drive
on the computer. Had to pull it out with a needlenose pliers. I use only Sony discs now,
the memorex got here from a friend I was doing pictures for. Gave my old FD73 to my
son for Xmas, I like the way my new one locks
in the floppies and flips them out when you
release with the button. Just me again, Itzback formerly yabe777...

Hiya Yabe, geesh, it's hard to keep up with your ID's.
My FD73 is less than 1 yr old, so it's the same version as what you have. I best get those Memorex floppies back from my kid & toss them in the garbage. I'll give the Sony ones a try.
