I sold an item on my other eBay name today, Dutch, 2 quantity. It ended with 2 bids. When I went to email the winners I found that they had the same email ISP, a very odd name something ventron.com or something like that. Not something that I've ever seen before or should see a double of like that on the same item. Both were "newbies", one with a ONE feedback, one with 12. I have this personal tag line at the end of my email, which reflects the fact that I LOVE the TV show FRIENDS.
F*R*I*E*N*D*S
"PAH HA!" ~ Monica Gellar
"You're over me? You're over me? When were you...under me???" ~ Ross
Gellar
"No you didn't get me! It's an electric drill! You get me you kill me!" ~
Chandler Bing
"How you doin?" ~ Joey Tribianni
"Now I'm mommy in this little play? I refuse to get sucked into this little Gellar
dimension! I'm going to take a bath because you kids are driving me crazy!!!" ~
Rachel Green
"You're her lobster!" ~ Phoebe Buffay
"Oooh! I'm a man! Oooh I have a penis! Oooh I have to win money to exert my
power over women!" ~ Rachel Green
I received this ridiculous email a few moments ago from one of the "winners"
We received your message that we are the hi bidder for the BlahBlahBlah #123123123. We were not happy to see your
personal message at the bottom of the page. Hopefully it's a mistake on your
part. Please explain or we will leave negative feedback.
They will leave me negative feedback? For what? Because they dont' like the reference made by Rachel Green in my tag line? That is my tag line, I've had it on there for a LONG time, NO ONE has every complained, I've had lots of laughing comments on it. I use it to send every email from my server no matter who I am sending too. I'm not a business, I dont advertise anything, I dont want to.
What do I do?

some may find the word "penis" to be offensive tossed in at the end of a winners notice. their children may have seen the email or maybe even opened it originally, say for instance if you had sold a beanie and the child got to open the winners notice that was sent to mommy, if that makes any sense........
personally i find it to be unprofessional to have such a long tagline and to have the word penis included, strictly from a professional angle........when i get my utility bill they never have penis included on the bill. they just expect you to know thats what your're getting when the bill arrives.......i think it needs to go

That was not my question.
And it's my tag line, I'm not a business, I'm not a profession, what I sell on my other eBay name has NOTHING to do with any professional AT ALL, it's casual sales and I dont appreciate being threatened with negative feedback over the fact that they dont like something that I do?

it was not the question but definetly was my answer.i don't think it was a threat but merely a request for an explanation with a sytatement of what they will do if you do not reply. i would say it was more of a promise. maybe you need to be just a bit more professional even if you are a garage sale seller. quit whining and get with the program. you're sitting at home on sunday with nothing better to do than tattle to mommy about something, safeharbor being mommy......grow up and stop actoing like oldbiddy parsons

Look Paco, I do not appreciate your comments, I don't appreciate your tonality in your comments, particularly with the namecalling. If someone else offered the same advice and didn't do it with the same jerkoff way you make it sound I'd probably be much more apt to listen to what they say. In the 7 months that that signiature line has BEEN on my email not ONE PERSON has made a comment on it other than comments of comic and funny.

Wow, some people are a trip!
A penis you say?? That is dirty and gross and how dare you mention it!!! Ms. LibbyParsons, you are very likely well on your way to H E double toothpicks!!
I would probably contemplate telling them to put down the bible and the crack pipe and get a life, after all they are not purchasing the actual penis.
BTW if by chance you are selling the actual penis, send me one along with whatever do-dad you are also selling.
Sincerely, The Church Lady

thanks cmbtboots.
Is it that people are uncomfortable with the word? I have a 6 year old who doesn't call things by goofy stupid names, she calls them what they are anatomically called.
And if I had one I'd send you an extra

seems you have a problem dealing with the reality of things. i am sure it has offended others and they did not bother to complain. how can you expect to dictate the right of others to say/type in an email when you defend your right to send PENIS to everyone you email. understand one thing and you will grow volumes in the auction game. if you sell one or 1000 items a month, act like a professional in all your dealings with the customer. this includes not sending penis out in yoiur winners notice. would it be so hard for you to have a seperate addy for auctions or something.
instead of looking at the root cause of the problem you want to deflect balme away from it. you are the root that is the problem......
ebay is long past a little group of traders, wise up and act like a professional

Could be they just don't get it. I love Friends, but there are some people who don't watch TV at all.
I'd ignore the negative feedback threat and just email back saying, "Those were just some of my favorite lines from the TV show Friends, I didn't mean for them to be in any way a personal comment about you. I'm sorry if you were offended. I hope we can still complete this transaction."
And you might add, "No need to get all squinky about it."

Ya know how on eBay you can CC an email to Safeharbor requesting that a user cannot bid on your auctions anymore?
I wish you could do that here at AuctionWatch. Request that a poster cannot post in your threads because I know the FIRST person I'd direct that at!

i am not uncomfortable with the word and find it amusing that some are, but the fact is it could be offensive to some and if you get a complaint you need to accept the blame. just because it is not offensive to you and anyone else you ask doesn't make it un offensive to ALL.........not everyone is the same and you do not dictate peoples feeling towards things. i bet you love when your child loves penis in the grocery, makes you proud your little boo boo is so smart and has it all together, GREAT.........ebay is a business, try acting like it. if you want to play cutesy games have a garbage sale.

I'm not gonna sit here and let Paco have his way with his attitude. I'll deal with it on my own, even if I have to change my signiature line.
Thanks cmbtboots and triplesnack

I don't think it is a feedback threat exactly. More than likely, they just don't get the references to the show Friends. A polite reply with a short explanation would probably solve the "misunderstanding".
Personally, my opinion is, if you want to use a tag line like that, save it for your personal emails. Emails that are sent in the process of eBay selling should be more professional I think. You are dealing with a huge cross section of people, and not everyone will "get" or "like" some comments. Isn't it best to stay more generic? Of course, that's just my opinion. Usually when someone responds in such a way, it's a good clue that there are others who felt the same way, but just didn't bother to remark.
