Hi again everybody.
I have a small collection of beanies that I got as gifts (was never really _into_ them) and I was looking at what they were going for on eBay...and wondered if anybody knows what MWMT and the like mean.

MWMT= mint with mint tags
I've stayed far away from the beanie phenomenon... true beanie collectors are SO exacting, I'm sure I could never meet their standards. When you say MINT you'd better mean MINT or you'll get a NEG!
My suggestion is that you cut off the tags and donate them to a homeless shelter or other charity to be given to needy kids!

I'm guessing MWMT means "mint with mint tag." I think the condition of the Ty tag is important to collectors.
I'm not a beanie baby collector BUT I did recently run across the Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer beanies offered by CVS and I had to get some. Heaven, help me.

Yes, that's why I am planning to have mine authenticated. That way I will know _exactly_ how they rank...and I have noticed that authenticated beanies get some nice money, whereas the unauthenticated ones are usually going for about $3.00. Gotta spend money to make money, I suppose.

I noticed some other beanie abbreviations...I am not sure if they were abbreviations or typos...like MWMAT, and others. Any clue?

There are several places that will do it.
Some of them are quite expensive...others, no.
What they will do is put the beanie through some tests, and determine whether they think it is authentic.
Then, they will put that beanie inside a tamper-proof case. It will be sealed, and if the seal is broken, then the authentication will be void.
The cheapest place I have found, so far, to do it is BeanCheck. They will do it for $13, including the shipping to get it back to you. They also offer an escrow service, so if you plan on selling them right after they are authenticated, they will hold onto it for you and send it directly to the buyer...thus, saving on the shipping.
Most other places will charge you $20 PLUS shipping...some of them charging $7.00 just for the shipping.

It's hard to read, but if you can strain your eyes enough, it has good info. I have determined that most, if not all, of my beanies are 4th generation. Anybody know anything great about 4th generation beanies???
posted on February 25, 2001 05:58:54 PMKimbonovich 4th generation tags are on beanies made early 1996 and late 1997. If you are going to have them authenticated the only one to do it to increase their value is peggy Gallagher. Beanie collectors have 100% faith in her, and you will get your beanie back. I have heard stories about other authenticators that never returned rare beanies. She charges 20.00 for each one. You would be wasting your money to do it though as there are no really valuable beanies with 4th generation tags except Libearty. If you have him and he is authenticated by Peggy Gallagher he will sell for quite a bit more. Check the names on their tags & go to eBay to get a good idea of what your beanies are selling for. A year ago you could have gotten quite a bit more for your 4th generation beanies, but today the market is WAY down.

I am not sure on the generation thing, then, because mine are from 1995 and 1996...none from 1997, I don't think.
You seem to know quite a bit about beanies...I went through all of mine and listed what generation they are, etc. Do you think I could email you the info about them and get your opinion?

Send me the names of your beanies, also let me know which ones have a yellow star on the outside of the heart tag where the large TY initials are, & which ones don't.
