Well, today I was a victim of the TERRIBLE decision eBay made to forward bidder inquiries thru their filter.
Received the question from the bidder, (email time was 12:35 pm) at 3:15 pm, an hour after the auction ended.
I did not receive the actual "auction has ended" email from eBay until nearly 10 pm, 8 hours after the auction ended.
I will be listing my email address in all auctions from now on.... but knowing eBay, they'll find a way to prevent that too.

Have you noticed that after an auction ends, the seller can ONLY get the email addresses of the high bidder? If you click on Bid History after the auction ends, and you are the seller, only the high bidder's email will be shown. The underbidders' emails are not shown. So if we get stiffed by the high bidder and want to contact the underbidder to see if they want the item, we have to go through eBay to do it! Arrrrrrrgh!

twelvepole, I just found out last night when cleaning up some ended auctions, that even if a WINNERS Id is their addy and you click on it to email them an EOA, it does not automatically open a mail window like it used to, You now must send the message through ebay. I just opened my own mail window and pasted in their address.

If the winners ID is a nickname and you click on it, everything still works like it used to.

I had three auctions to end successfully last night; I always send out my EOA emails right away, and no two of them worked the same. In fact, on one I was told I'd have to blah, blah, blah (I don't even remember exactly) "because you have no transactional relationship" with the user. This in spite of the fact that he'd won my auction about twenty minutes earlier. Luckily, his ID happens to be his email address, so I just pasted it into my email program . . .

I had one item that went somewhat higher than I expected, so about an hour before the auction ended, I copied the emails of all the bidders so I'd (maybe) have the second high bidder if I needed it.

That seems like such a hassle to do.... copying addresses before the auction is over, but I understand why. It IS having glitches (course its EBAY)

Instead of your ME page, why not put a clickable link on your ad? I made one up the other night, but in the link, it says, Click Here to Email Me, if you can't my email address is [email protected] AND my user name is my email, I could never get into user names, course I do here duh LOL! but when they first introduced usernames, they announced it would start at a certain time in the morning, what? 2-3 yrs ago? and I thought I was ready with a name, but someone got the name I wanted, so I said screw it.

All my new auctions are going to have a link in extra-large letters, "Click here to email me directly with any questions".

I'll have to figure something else out if they start disabling "mailto" links. *sigh*

I absolutely don't trust eBay servers to get mail to me on a timely basis!

I don't understand why Ebay didn't make this an option. Those who didn't want their e-mails to show could opt out and those of us who don't care can continue the old way.

Not Dragonfyree on Ebay.
