Hi all,
Glass is at the bottom of my levels of expertise but I found this pitcher at an estate sale and just liked it. It is marked on the bottom either 'MMA' OR 'VWW'depending on which way to turn it. Here's the url, or if someone can help me bring it up here, I'll try it. Thanks

It appears to be a "take-off" after an Amberina piece. OLD Amberina is quite expensive; because of that, NEW pieces are flooding the market. Without seeing the handle and how it is attached to the body, and the underside, I cannot say for certain, but I am pretty sure this is a replica, as there are 2 identical pitchers in the small mall down from my house.
******** Gosh Shosh!

jayadiaz, "MMA" denotes "Metropolitan Museum of Art". The pitcher is a reproduction piece that may have been commissioned from an old mold to be sold at the Museum. But that's what the "MMA" mark on the bottom means.

Thank you ladies, it appears to have one of those "ponti?somethings' on the bottom. But thanks for the info anyway not a big investment so it's not a problem either way. Jay

That's a "pontil" mark, jayadiaz. And it's where the glass was "cut" from the mold. Sometimes it's polished, and sometimes left a bit rough. Don't give up on the pitcher, though. Even though it's new, it doesn't mean someone won't want it. I recently sold a pair of Sandwich "Dolphin" candlesticks from the Imperial mold, that were produced for the MMA and so marked. They were beautifully done and I sold them for $75! Good luck!

Imperial, not Westmoreland...duh!
