From the looks of it you will need to wait in line. They freeze accounts to collect intrest no doubt. If it was a large sum of money you could get a lawyer, call the BBB, or contact the media. I wish you good luck.

Hi whine....Could be that the item was paid for with an e-check which takes time to clear, I guess. Is the "pending" clickable?
Does the buyer have any explanation?

Even with an Echeck they say 3 to 5 days.
It's for $114.00 and I'd like it in MY account.
There is an explaination but according to it I should have my money by now.
Here is the PP explaination:
Customers frequently ask:
"Why is my purchase 'Pending'?" or "Why is the 'Pending' transaction for the wrong amount?"
Many merchants such as restaurants often take a few days before sending PayPal an accurate request for the money you owe them - thus your purchase is marked as "Pending". These merchants commonly send a "rough-estimate" amount immediately when you make a purchase, and then follow up with the accurate amount to override the "rough-estimate" amount within 3-4 days. Sending a "rough-estimate" of your purchase ensures the merchant that you have roughly enough money in your PayPal account to complete your transaction instantly. Within 3-4 days, the merchant will be sending an accurate dollar amount, and your purchase will be listed as "Completed". Before contacting customer service when a transaction is "Pending", please check back in 3-4 days to see if the merchant sends the accurate purchase amount.
This is from the 19th of FEBRUARY!!

That's one way. Panic and run amuck.
I'd do things a bit different. If it is an eCheck (which is seems to have to be) then there's a chance the buyer doesn't have sufficient funds to cover the amount. In the original email from PayPal doesn't it tell you to wait till the transaction changes from pending to complete before you ship?

whinecooler: Your quote of PayPal's explanation is for pending PURCHASES made with the PayPal debit card. If you are referring to a payment made TO YOU, then this is not the info you need.

I've emailed Paypal about it 3 times. The first was a canned response sighting their
pending" explaination.
The 2nd and 3rd have not been answered yet.
If this was still "always free" I could understand but now it's NOT free and I should get some customer support.

No...I don't think this is another PayPal foul up.
Go to the transaction, and click on it. It may ask you if you want to accept, or decline the transaction. Accept it, and you get the money.
PayPal started doing this when folks used a CC to pay, but wanted it shipped to a different address than on the CC. So as a seller, you have control over whether you accept (and take some small risk of fraud), or decline.
If the buyer has good feedback, or you're able to be comfortable with him/her through other means (prior customer, or email communication, or some such), just accept the money, and move on.
No sense calling PayPal. They seldom listen, anyway....
Check your PayPal account every week or so, looking for these "pendings." I find a couple a month...

Yes, it very well could be a payment without a verified shipping address. Steve may have given you the answer.

Yep - that's what mine was - buyer did not give PayPal a "verified" address. The buyer had however e-mailed me with their address - I too was confused - until I "took the leap" and "accepted" the payment...after that - everything was fine and I shipped the item. I also kept in contact with the buyer during this time and after I "accepted" it - I advised her that was the hold up - she had not given PayPal a verified address - shipped the item and got excellent feedback today from her !

It just says "pending".
I've looked everywhere for an "accept payment" button and there isn't one.
Usually it's right beside the transaction.
No such luck here.

uaruThat's one way. Panic and run amuck.
It is unfortunate that many users must do it to make them listen, but they have to believe it or not. I have seen article after article where they freeze accounts for no reason. I just hope people are more careful.

whinecooler (love the name),
Can you locate the PayPal email that came when you got the payment? Can you go over that and see if it eludes to an 'unverified address' or a pending 'eCheck' payment?
I think that email might be a big help.

Just call them. They have a customer service number which is toll free. I have always gotten a "Real Person" right away when I have called and even received the answers to the questions I asked. Their phone number: (888) 221-1161. Be sure and get a name and make a note of the date and time you call them.

Not here.
I've sent 4 transfers from PayPal to my checking account in the last few days and all have reached my account in a record time (an average of 2-3 days).
