Anybody catch Primetime last night and Amy Tan said her secret passion was Ebay? Said she could of probably written 4 more books if it hadn't of been for Ebay. Hmmm. Wonder what her screen name is? And I wonder what famous person we could have as a buyer?

Well, did she say what she likes to buy or what she collects?

I saw it and wondered what she buys? I got the idea that she sold also. I remember a thread here at AW about a buyer who was Steven Kings wife. She collected some kind of dishes. Unless someone sells to a celebrity it will remain a mystery.

Well, I can't claim to have sold to any celebrities but I have sold books to the decendants of the authors and even to the descendants of the people the biography was about. One was even about a hidden wife/mistress of a king of England.Interesting, the people you meet on ebay!

In October, I sold to Delta Burke. When she answered my EOA notice, the name was D.Burke. I wondered at that time and when I received the check, it was Delta Burke Enterprises in CA. I am sure it was a representative for her, but was interesting.

So THAT is why Tabitha King hasn't had a new book come out in awhile!! I guess eBay has kept her from writing as well. *sniff*

I once listed a book and the author herself bid and won it. Not kidding. When she won she didnt give me her mailing information so I didn't find out until her check arrived. Sure enough, her name was on the check along with her Los Angeles address.

What is Amy Tan's newest book? I've read "The Kitchen God's Wife" and "The JoyLuck Club", and have tried to read "The Hundred Secret Senses".

I sold some tools to a big name in the computer industry and he was very nice in his e-mails - paid with paypal and did not even make any request to keep his address confidencial, but it is just business smarts not to let your customers name and data out in public. I expect that much from Sears after all. I asked in my EOA are you the inventor and he was very modest - said yeah 20 years ago I was, and I still like to play with hardware as you can tell by the tools I am buying.
Some celebrities pay for all their small purchases with a personal check knowing that they will usually be kept for the autograph instead of cashed. They get a ton of free stuff that way. Wouldn't that be a blast to sign off on stuff knowing it is a freebie?

Meya

Her latest novel was released in February and is entitled "The Bonesetter's Daughter."

I can't wait to get a copy; I love her books.

*smiles* I've held this to myself, well, except for telling some friends around here. Awhile back, I sold to Tabitha King. Just some old bar type glasses. I had wondered if it MIGHT be her when the email said to ship to T King Bangor maine. Well, When I recieved the paypal payment, it showed her name, TABITHA. That made my day. Bummer though, I never got a feedback from her. Oh well.
