so does anyone use fed ex home ground or any other type services instead of usps priority mail. i would be interested to know how economical it is for under 2# packages versus prioritry. i have used ups but find them a bit more than priority for the smaller stuff, although i do use them for larger items and oversized pkgs.......
i believe fed ex supplies free boxes also but in what sizes.......
just looking for others experiences in this.......

From my research at the FedEx ground site, their service is extremely limited, (i.e.) they don't seem to have service in any area I have tested except large cities.
I use UPS on many smaller items because when insurance is included they are less costly in many instances than is USPS. We don't ship without insurance, so with the huge increase in insurance, the post office has really priced its self out of the market with items valued over $50.
I checked out the private insurance site on line and have written them more than once, but never receive any info, and if a company is too lazy to respond to someone wanting to inquire their services, I don't think I want to deal with them.
