I just got a bubble envelope back from the damaged mail center. I had shipped a large print book in it and I always put heavy gage tape over the self stick flap as it is thinner and not as sturdy as the other end. Well the envelope is not all shredded or anything - It is obviously carefully opened so the contents could be removed. There is not even any missing - just ripped open with one zic zag the way it looks when you open it by hand instead of cutting it.
They are offering to search for it. Ha! Are they going to go search the postal workers homes? Who knows what they would find if they did that.

gravid, I had filed a complaint with the P.O. in early Oct over lost mail and damaged packages. The next box I received was very nicely slit open.

The USPS has auctions on ebay of items that were "lost" during shipping. Nobody picked up the item, address is not readable and no return address, and so on. Anything that the USPS was unable to deliver to a correct recipiant is collected, sorted, and held for a while. Than they auction it off to the highest bidder. I heard that their feedback is not all that great, they overcharge for SH!!!
I guess the auctions are just mixed in with the rest then. I did a search for Postal auctions with no luck. Curious as to what they are selling. Overcharge shipping....imagine.. :- )) <grin>
