I don't normally deal in old magazines, so anyone who does, I would appreciate your opinion:

I recently came into an almost complete collection of TV Guide magazine between 1954 and 1962. They are in pretty good shape EXCEPT that (don't ask me why) ALL of the covers were detached from the body of the issues and stored separately. I don't know if the previous owner used to display the covers or what, but they are not attached.

Is there a market for these?

It probably would depend on who is on the cover. People who collect stuff for certain celebrities will probably buy anything. As far as value, that would depend on how bad someone wanted them. I would do some searches on Ebay for TV Guides from those years and see what is selling. Since the covers are off it would probably decrease the value some.

In good condition, with covers attached, these generally sell for $5 to $20 each- more or less depending on condition and especially who is on the cover. Notable issues for collectors are the '56 and '60 issues with Elvis, and earlier issues with Lucy, Buffalo Bob, Roy Rogers, Howdy Doody, Marilyn Monroe, George Reeves, Zorro. Cover subject really influences value, and a few in Xlnt. condition with celebrities on the cover can bring over a hundred dollars. Issues without address labels are more valued than those with. The Fall Preview issues also have more value than the non-preview issues.

If covers were removed carefully, you might be able to reattach them using the original staples. If not, you could test the waters and try selling them separately-- they will bring less with detached covers.
