Does anyone know how to remove nickel plating from brass without damaging the underlying brass surface?
Any tips would be highly appreciated.
TIA.

You have to soak the brass in a solution made up of:

1 part water
2 parts cleaning fluid (dishsoap is OK)
1 part iodine

After letting it soak for about 10-12 hours, scrub it very briskly with a soft, wet sponge.

That should do it.

Some nickel compounds are EXTREMELY TOXIC.

Take it to a automobile plating shop (they do chrome bumpers, etc.) and ask them to strip and buff it.
