Would a mandatory "cooling off" period (14 days?) before either party is allowed to leave feedback help the feedback system, hurt it, or not affect it at all?

Could this help cut down on retaliatory negative feedbacks?

Could it help prevent the "Negged two minutes after auction closed!" type threads?

Fourteen days from when? The end of the auction? The payment was received? The item was received? A date both parties agree on?

It would just be another restriction for me. I tend to leave feedback when payment is received and if I was prevented from doing so until a certain amount of time had passed, I could see myself just forgetting about leaving it at all.

Also, I experienced a buyer using a stolen credit card to buy stuff and I was glad that I could post feedback on him to warn other buyers about his scam. It saved several from a monetary loss. If I waited two weeks, it would have been too late.

14 days from the end of auction. You make some very good points.
