I got a package in the mail the other day that came 4th class postage from a seller on ebaY.I often wonder what that really means.
It took about 10 days to get to me.I often wonder what the diff between the classes.
i.e. 1 St Class arrives by Condcord
2nd Class Goes by 747
3d class goes by Car
4th Class by Camel.
Or do they take the lower class postage and look it away for a few days before they send it.
Does it go by a slower carrier like mentioned above.
Sometimes I wake up at night wondering about these things.

Its easy really, if there is limited room on the plane, first class gets on, lower classes wait for the next plane. (or truck as the case may be.)

There Was a time in past history when 3rd and 4th class mail was called junk mail rate.
The post office has changed the terms on there different class postage over the year to make all there class services sound more desireable over the years.
all maketing mail use to be sent 3rd class or more commonly Known junk rate mail and this type of mail gets lower priority in being sent.
today its call media rate. not sure why any seller would send there Auction items low priority Junk mail but they do heck some buyers seem egar to have there collectable sent as junk through the us mail. http://www.Dman-N-Company.com

hey dman, I think you are confused...Media Mail is not allowed to contain any advertisments, it's meant for books, cd's, VHS tapes, etc. The junk mail rate is something different. Media mail and 4th class are not the same.
and, if you're wondering why I send my books out by Media Mail, it's because my customers, when offered a choice, consistently choose the lower priced, slower Media Mail. they aren't in any hurry and it makes them feel good to save a buck or two. nothin' wrong with that.
