Hi Everyone,

There has been a lot of people screaming about the end of online auctions and eBay for a long now on these boards. I think now that all the hype has died down, the true auction pros will emerge. Maybe it's time for a review of the "basics"...

Determining what to sell can be boiled down to simple criteria:

1) Sell a product that the public wants.

2) Make it extremely easy to do business with you.

3) Price the item accordingly, taking in all costs.

4) And make a tidy profit for yourself on the transaction.

5) Repeat these steps and reap the rewards.

Yeah, having an online auction business is hard work. No one said it would be easy. But lets remember why people don't make profits on eBay. It's because they think they can get rich by selling "trash" but instead are losing their shirts! Real wealth comes from an exchange of value. If you do not have an item that the public wants, then you can forget the rest...especially reaping the rewards.

6) Communicate w/your customers. Let them know when their payment has been received & the item has been shipped.

Don't listen to "5 quick remedies" to fix your sales slump in an economy going into the sh*tter with high energy cost, blackouts in the West, the winter that won't end, the stock market burning Buy Tickets, idiots at live auctions overbidding on everything, fees increasing at every turn, and a genius with "5 quick remedies"

Thanks Bob.

No Doz won't make a buck off me tonite.

I'll sleep tight.

I'm just glad we walk the planet at the same time. Otherwise I'd have to talk to some guy named Einstien.

"Trash"???? I had many things ready to be thrown in the garbage or donated, put them up on ebay instead and the bidding went through the roof. "Trash" is what becomes good collectibles because it's what people never hoarded. Collecting 101.

Proper English never hurts the "basics" either.

"There has been a lot.."

How about "There have been a lot..."

Since we're talking about the "basics"....

quickdraw29,

No truer words!

I bought a 1950's toy at auction for $2.

The wires were frayed, the box was beat up, and like I said, it went to me for $2.00.

On ebay it went for $386.00.

Send me your huddled masses, your tired, but only if they send me their TRASH!

I'm not an expert. I'm a generalist. It's why I don't use BIN.

SEND ME YOUR TRASH!!!
