Hi
This is one of my auctions. Can you tell me if this use of the showcase frame within the auction is legal. If not, How could it be made legal if at all. Sorry do not know how to make clickable.

IMHO only and the best opinion would be of eBay directly (or Glenda). I believe that only the link to the gallery with the small pic should be included. Also, there could be a question of fee avoidance because the gallery is included directly in the eBay listing. eBay might miss their gallery fee.

Hello snip. You cannot put the actual Auctiva Showcase in your auction listing but you CAN provide a LINK to your Auctiva Showcase. Be sure that the destination page of the link only shows your eBay auctions. If you have items for sale on other auction sites you can link to them on this destination page so the viewer has to perform another click in order to view them.

Thanks for your opinions. If that is not permitted how about if the frame shown was an ebay gallery search that would show just my items. Ebay could not object could they as they would get gallery fees right? The only concern I might have is that the page might load too slow with a lot of thumbs.

snip, I don't really know if eBay would object to that but I don't see any reason for you NOT to use a LINK to your gallery instead. The person viewing your auction may not want to wait for all of those thumbnails to download and may actually become annoyed and just back out of your auction page. Instead of using the gallery to benefit you and your customer it may become a detriment. If they want to see your gallery they'll click on the link.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

I would say that it is not permitted but not because of fee avoidance. It says somewhere in Ebay's TOS that you can't use drop down menus in your auctions because this confuses the search engine when people do title and description searches. I would say the chances of an auction like you mentioned being closed early is pretty good.

Gosh I never thought of a search issue. I could maybe see where that may become an issue. Maybe I had better forget this idea until I got a definitive answer from ebay. Just trying to make my auctions different and handy.
Thanks

The other issue Ebay will have with this setup is Keyword Spamming. You can not list the names or descriptions of your other items available in other auctions because it will make the unrelated item appear in the search results.

Someone searching for a Sub-Woofer would get your Creamer auction because the text below the thumbnails appears in both auction descriptions.

Any words used in the links to galleries or other auctions must be generic in nature.

"Click Here to View our other auctions" is fine.

"Click Here to View our Franciscan Floral Plate Auctions" is not allowed.

Forgot to add:

Although the laws regarding internet copyrights are very new and still being tested in court, the general rulings thus far make it OK to link to any site without their permission but you can not "frame" someones site without their permission.

Auctiva may very well have a problem with you doing that.
