I've been thinking about downloading Seller's Assistant.
But, when I reviewing the Mr. Lister (now Seller's Assistant) board, I'm somewhat overwhelmed by the frustrations voiced.
Is anyone having success with this program - or, was it released prematurely?

Many thanks yous....

There are two groups of programmers at eBay ... and one group is like the highway crews that go out and dig up the roads for the fun of it.

There is crappy communication bwetween the group doing the site changes and the group supporting the add-in stuff like picture listing, SA, etc. And with the pile of patchwork and spaghetti that is the eBay code, it's hard to tell what will break when a change is made.

I've been typing listings into a MSWord template, and listing at the online form until the dust settles.

I am using Seller's Assistant Pro, it is slower and filled with bugs but I have learned to work around them. I don't like what happened with Blackthorne but I do like their auction software the best.

Thanks!

Seller's Assistant IS buggy- and with customer service going to eBay now, that could be a problem.

SA Pro currently has a bug where it is relisting single auctions multiple times. One poor user had SA Pro list one auction 5,000 times:

"I went to relist 62 auctions and the program got hung on the first 2 and listed them 5000 times! I really need help. I do not know how to contact ebay and my account has been charged for all 5000 listings. This really makes me sick.....I need help!!! Please help me fix this problem!"

eBay hasn't responded to his emails in two days. Imagine trying to cancel these auctions?

Regarding Auction Assistant/Seller Assistant, when Blackthorne sold out and reneged on their contract with their original customers, I stopped using the service, and personally wouldn't trust them again. I feel what Blackthorne did was reprehensible.

I'm still using Auction Assistant, have the Sellers Assistant, but very very hesitant to use it. Now what I hear, I'm not so sure.

I don't know how long I'll be able to use AAPro, but it seems ok right now. Been using it now for 3? years. And yes I did register to get my 'free' use of it for 1 year... oh wow......

I also have refrained from trying it out, because of all the problems I've read about on the Mister Lister boards. Although, I just recently started using Mister Lister and haven't had any major problems there.

Also, a popular post-sale management program is also going to become an auction launching program starting April 16th, supporting both eBay and BidVille. Since I already use this PSM program, I will get the auction launching part for free with the next software update. All the details are at their web site (found out about it just this morning). I look forward to trying it out.

Since the moderators deleted all of my posts regarding this program, I'll refrain from naming it here. You can click on my ID to get my email address if you want the link.

Better hurry before they delete this post too.

(Since this whole thread concerns competitors to AW, I don't think my post is any worse, if you will.)

If you use the email version of MisterLister, you will find it runs fairly smooth. This means you have to generate your own uploads. Also, you probably will not have the bells and whistles. I would never use the MisterLister Composer. It is too buggy.

Regarding SA - you have to be insane to start with that product at this time. If you are a season pro - it may make some sense. But base on the posts regarding this product, it seems like all they are doing is continually releasing patches on the software. Why would you want to waste your time to debug this product?

I have downloaded the 'auctiontrakker" and have used it now for about two weeks....I love it....much better then AA or lister....You do not have to pay a FVF either....you also get a FREE 30 day trial....Check it out...They have great support also...It's a one time fee to purchase their program.....

I tried the Asst. and could not get any help from anyone at ebay as to how to take it off and not end up getting billed for it, so I just deleted the whole program I hope it worked.

Sellers Assitant will do great. Everytime a new person sells on eBay they face the gauntlet where eBay force feeds services to sellers. I guess I should accept that eBay wants the whole enchilada and submit, but it does bother me. Third party services are up against a stacked deck when it comes to eBay.

A lot of the problems listed were associated with the beta testing of Seller's Assistant Basic & Seller's Assistant Pro.

I'm not going to claim it's perfect & has all the bugs worked out (we are still getting patches every few days) but it's not anywhere near as bad as you would be led to believe based on viewing the discussion section.

They've tried to be quite responsive to ebay's "now we are going to institute this", "now we aren't" decisions.

I host my images at bidbay.com and get paid
sometimes I list the old fashion way by hand
keeps the cost down used to use auctionpro
until they started charging fees.

If you haven't been using Blackthorne's products in the past I would NOT start now. I have used them for over 3 years and I like the features in AA Pro, I can list in no time. Now Ebay is doing there best to sabotage it by making changes nearly every day that cause it to be non functioning for some users. I have downloaded SA Pro and tried a few listings with, BUGS BUGS BUGS and I am dreading to see what will happen when the auctions end and I have to use the Correspondence and so forth. It is NOT easier to use. Many features and functions have been made harder to use, how ridiculous. I also created my own themes since I find the included ones pretty tacky for my sort of items. Now there is some bug that keeps you from doing that too. SA PRo is a disaster so far and with Ebay being in charge few questions receive answers. IT was obviously put into use WAY too soon due to EGREED no doubt. Blackthorne's products were a thing of beauty backed by an honorable, hard working and incredibly responsive creator...now it is another Ebay nightmare.

I should add the following I've used AAPro from day one through all the bugs it had and am now using SAPro with its bugs and still love it.

I've tried many of the others mentioned on the AW board, but have found none to compare to it.

Yes it's $15.99 a month after my free year, but that's less than what one auction will bring me and i'm willing to pay the price.

This past year it helped me earn five times what my Army retirement pay is. Needless to say i'm delighted.

To each his own!!!

Clogged and frustrated sellers...

Thanks...hopefully it will clear up...

Hi,

I tried manageauctions.com and it is quite good and prices are fair, it has some free image hosting but it is web based and cannot do your auctions off line like AMPro. It does insert large thumbnails like auctionwatch with two of the templates. It has a free trial period to try it. You can also schedule your auctions months in advance and also schedule auctions to automatically go up each week.

thepriestAll the AAPro and SAPro programs have had bugs. John Slocum has worked on these problems since he introduced it a long time ago. The bugs get fixed and the program gets better with each fix.

Today I downloaded the latest (bug) patch which is 2.0.10 and the program is working as smooth as silk. There will always be bugs I don't care whose program you use and there will always be patches.

Many of the problems you read about on the Blackthornsw Discussion Board are problems that are user problems or from those that are computer illiterate. Many of the problems are also because many people just don't know the bells & whistles. SAPro has more bells and whistles than Santa. I don't think any user knows 100% how to use all of them. I've been learning it for years now and still find new ways to use the program.

SAPro isn't for everyone, but if you plan to sell a lot of merchandise on eBay it makes life so easy that once you've used it you won't be without it.

I am just a user of the program and in no way connected to eBay or Blackthornsw.

hi rampaged...thanks...you are correct - every program does have bugs.
eBay has a virtual course noted in the announcement boards.
I write my own html and load my own pictures, so when I noticed many issues concerning that, I shied away.
I hate to dive into a can of worms, but you're right - regardless, we work around the challenges...
