Hi all,
I stopped using AW's service when they sprang the new fees on us. I am trying to use Ebay's service, but quality of the pics is awful.
I tried a compressed file and it looked bad. The instructions on ebay say to submit a large file and I did that and it still looks bad.
I went to Ebays boards for help, and a very nice ebayer keeps telling me to download his version of a file compressor and my pictures will look fine. I can't seem to get him to understand that I have one and know how to use it and that is not the problem. I keep asking why ebay says to submit large files and he says the files are too large.
Anyone use their service? Poor quality pictures are not going to help me sell my items.
Maybe I just need new glasses.

eBay's pic hosting services suck, big time.
About the only thing that helps is if you use their super size option [more fees] and start off with very good quality pics.

Thanks Reddeer,
At least I can stop waisting time on using that service. I can't afford another fee and a $1.00 fee for a super size photo seems super nuts to me.
Maybe it would be ok if I sold large ticket items, but I don't.

You might try Honesty.com. We use them and like them. Sue

I would have to say as a buyer Do not use Honesty! Their pictures take FOREVER to load. I have backed out of more auctions than I care to count because I was not going to wait forever to get the photo loaded. It Is TERRIBLE!
This thread has lots of Excellent info on using your web site to host your photos. It took me a weekend to learn, but now I love it!

I second the suggestion NOT to use Honesty. I can't believe how slowly their pictures load. Most of the time I leave first. That is not good.

Not only that but e-Bay is going to charge for the 2nd picture pretty soon - .15 I think. I listed an item and one image was so bad I attached one from AW and the difference was obvious. Since I do not list that much and only getting rid of things, for me the AW price of 10 cents per image is worth it. At least the item has a chance of being sold with a decent photo.

Not only do the Honesty pics load slow, but their counters are constantly screwed up as well.

No need to pay money to third parties to host your photos.
Get webspace somewhere (either through your ISP or a place like www.pair.com where you can get 50 MB for $4.95/month).
Download a file transfer protocol (FTP) program to upload your photos. WS_FTP LE is one of the best and simplest to use.

I think eBay's iPix is great. I hope all my competitors use it.
I'm still clunking around keeping everything on my own ISP, all logos, pictures, and eye candy load from one dependable source.

The iPix has crappy compression.
If you sell much, get pair.com's web space, and for $5/mo have a much better host for lots more pictures.
