I wonder if its only my area (LA, AT&T CABLE), I have been geting a very slow response time from ebay servers during the last week or so. Is it the same out there, or any clue to what is the problem?

We are having the same problem, thought it was something with our cable, but then tried
3 different dial ups on 3 different computers, same problem.(I think my family thought I lost it going around trying everyone's computer to access eBay) There is about a 300 message thread (may be more by now) on ebay tech board about it but no response from ebay...which I thought was interesting since one of the pinks started the thread and now no response to what they started!

Hello everyone! I live in Montreal, Canada and for almost a week, I was not able to access Ebay with my DSL internet provider. I had to use my AOL account to access Ebay. I contacted them and they said that there was a major router that was down and had a packet loss of 100% which was true because I checked that out on the internet traffic reports website which is located at the following link:

The funny thing is that since yesterday (Friday), I can access Ebay with my DSL internet provider but the same router is still down...Weird, huh?

I was just about to post this same question...! Yes, it has been INCREDIBLY SLOW. I live in Central Ohio and have Road Runner access. I first noticed the slowdown last weekend...

Very slow here in Ohio & I also have RR cable. I wrote to Ebay on the 16th and this was their response on the 19th:
Hello Janet,
Thank you for writing in regarding the slow speeds you've experienced
accessing our site today. We have looked into the issue and found that
the problem is with the high traffic on the internet.
Currently the internet traffic conditions for North America are not
good. You can check the internet traffic in North America through this

We suggest you log off and log back in again to see if your ISP routes
through a different server. You may also try refreshing your browser
until the page appears.
Thank you for being part of the eBay community.

It seems very strange to me that Ebay is the only site I have this problem with...everything else very fast.
Ebay has turned into a DEAD turtle here in North Central Ohio.
Ebay has been slow since about March 8th. And unbelievably slow in the evenings and on weekends.
I thought is was a Roadrunner problem because ebay would slow down, die, then my modem lights would flash and I couldn't connect to the internet at all.
All the other web sites I visted were OK.
On Sat. 3/17 and last night 3/23, I checked ebay with rr against my husband's dialup.
His dialup was 12 seconds FASTER than rr with ebay and when we tested other sites rr and dialup were about even. His speed was about the same as mine. (Me 245kbps.-- him 161kbps.)
RR came out to my house on 3/19 and gave me a new modem. They sent the line crew out on 3/20 and checked the lines in my area. They told me they detected a slight problem and were going to fix it. I don't know if they did or not, because I'm still having the same problem and I don't know whose fault it is.
Ebay started out very slow this morning--now it's DEAD!
Last night it took at 4 minutes for me to totally download search pages and the announcements and help pages.
If the problem is rr, why would eBay be soooo much slower and the other sites I visit be just a teentsy-weentsy bit slower?
I just went to ebay (12:15 PM EST) and it's the slowest it's ever been. I tried to download the search page where I usually hang out. After 5 MINUTES, all I had was the normal ebay stuff up and the very top of the page and the ad. THAT'S IT!
Then I went to a site RR told me to go to to check my speeed. It's called toastnet.com. My speed was 286kbps, so I don't know what the heck is causing my problem. But I sure am getting way behind with my auctions.
I wrote ebay support last week. They said it wasn't them and told me to clean out my cache. I manually clean out my cache every day, so that's not the problem.
It's not my pc because every other place I go to on the web is loading as usual.
AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!

It's a router in EXODUS ... and some areas pretty much are directed through that router or its friends. That can overload that link, slowing it down.
