I was the high bidder on an auction that stated in the title it was for 50 pieces. In the item description, it never mentions the number of pieces. Then, it has the "At XX:XX time, the seller added the following information: You are bidding on 1200 pieces." Naturally, I bid quite a bit more for 1200 pieces than I would have for 50 pieces. I finally got the package in the mail(keep reading), and it contains 50 pieces. I e-mailed the seller, and she claims that she did not add that info, that Paypal must have added it when she added the Paypal logo! She doesn't have 1200 pieces, but if I want to return the 50, she will give me a refund. I'm just totally at a loss. Her story is just completely absurd. To back up to the beginning, the auction ended almost a month ago, I had paid by Paypal 3 weeks ago, but got a "reminder" from the seller for my payment. When I e-mailed her with the date and transaction number, she apologized, and said that she never got the notice from Paypal, and did not know I had paid. I know that she is lying, because I did not attach my address, so she had to accept or deny the payment, and I have a copy of the e-mail from Paypal that she had accepted my payment the day after I sent it. Her feedback is impeccable, believe it or not. I can use the 50 pieces, but I wonder if I should ask for a proportionate refund, or just send the items back and get a full refund, because the whole situation is causing more concern by the moment. Any takes on this?

Tell her what you would have bid for 50 pieces, and if she doesn't want that she can offer it to the next highest bidder. Whether or not you keep the items, I'd give her at least a neutral of something like "CAUTION! Auction revised/seller denies, & 3 wks to ship w/PayPal."

(Of course, leave the FB on day 89!)

Without eBay, I might have a real life...
