I have a pink Melmac creamer and sugar set that was in a box of stuff. One of the pieces has a yellowish stain that goes all the way around the outside. It looks like the two pieces were stacked one inside the other, and that's where the stain is.
I've scrubbed a small bit off with a nylon scrubby thing, but the amount of time that took made doing the whole thing that way seem like a lot of trouble for a small item.

NEVER scrub plastic or melmac with a nylon scrubbie, you can leave tiny little scratches and ruin your piece! I like to use Krud Cutter first, I get it at Wal Mart. If that doesn't do it, try soaking it in bleach (I'd go with a 50% solution of water) over night. (Krud Cutter is THE best thing for removing nicotine, price stickers, baked on cooking gunk and just plain dirt).

You know, ALF stuff does pretty good on ebay. I had a rubber stamp kit still on the card and it went for $18.00! I was surprised!
