This forum is great! I've learned so much reading the replies, but I'm having big problems with payments from foreign countries. I usually request payment through BidPay or cash sent by registered mail. Apparently, this is costly to the buyer! I don't know. I don't trust PayPal, since some of my buddies have had BIG problems with them. I think that we sellers lose a lot of business abroad because of the cost of shipping. Any solutions / suggestions to my problem will be greatly appreciated.

Considered Billpoint?

I would recommend Billpoint credit card payments. Last Wednesday I had a sale to England, by Thursday, the credit card payment was in my Canadian bank account, item shipped on Friday!

There is a charge to you for this, but its likely worth it.

Just be careful who you are dealing with & you should be fine. Watch the bidder's feedback, for foreign credit cards, likely best to only deal with nicely established feedback bidders with clean comments, no negs or other problems. Also watch the country, Billpoint has an "approved" list, stick to that & maybe narrow it even further for your own likes & dislikes.

For eBay newbies or significant large payment amounts, you might still ask for either a Bidpay payment or an international money order, just to stay on safe side.

For smaller purchases, keep in mind many foreign customers prefer to mail U.S. cash, as buying money orders is sometimes difficult or costly in their countries. Just advise them to wrap it well in something like cardboard or brown paper & that it is sent at their risk.

Another GREAT way is for them to use Western Union money transfer by wire. There are offices everywhere in almost every country! All they have to do is e-mail you with the W.U. control number, you go to a local money office, give them your info, and get paid right away in check or cash.

Hope this helps.
