I had an auction end and someone bought two items (yeah!) and paid for them paypal and didn't even ask about combining shipping. Ethically, do I ship seperate or can I ship together? If I ship together should I refund extra shipping?

If you can ship together, by all means do so...Unless, one is liable to damage the other, or one is excessively bulky, heavy, etc. By all means, do refund the extra postage. Most importantly, you need to call the buyers attention to the fact and ask them if they prefer the 2 to be shipped together. More than likely, the answer will be yes. But, this way, the buyer isn't so likely to get confused. Believe me, it can happen.

offer the buyer a choice of ship together/refund $ or ship separately/no refund of $. You are awesome, you get the "Good Customer Service Provider of the Week Award" from me.....

Bidders do this to me all the time, even though I clearly state that I will combine shipping on multiple purchases. I ship together & refund the difference & let them know that I have done so. As long as the items won't damage each other, this is the best solution for me

This happened to me once. Bidder won two items, I didn't catch that 2 auctions went to the same bidder, sent separate EOAs and buyer paid both in full. When I realized what had happened I shipped the 2 items together and refunded the extra shipping he had paid. And got a *glowing* feedback from it
