Hi, everybody.

A while back I started copying and pasting parts of my EOA auctions from my wordperfect to my email site.

The one thing I cannot make happen is to have the pasted item include such features as italics, bold, etc. I've used the codes people have left here for simple HTML usage. Any ideas for me? ~Adele

You should save it as a .txt file so that the HTML tags don't get used to format the text.

If you cut and paste "<i>this is in italics</i>" rather then "this is in italics" it'll do the job.

Ah, I misread you.

Don't send emails in HTML as not all email will format the text. You don't want to be sending out email that looks like this:

<b><h1>You've won this auction!</h1</b>

<font color=green size="+1">Please send $23 plus $3.50 for postage to....</font>

Plain text does the job fine.

Please don't send your EOA's as HTML.
Because PDQ you will get an RSVP that looks like this

><html>
><head>
><title>
>EOA
></title>
><body>
><p><font face="arial,helvetica,san serif" >color="#000000" size="+3">Hello!</p>
><p><font face="arial,helvetica,san serif" >color="#ff0000" size="+2">Thanks for >being the winning bidder....

...Well you get my point.

Use plain text because not everyone is using a web based email client.

Plus you can use normal carriage returns etc.

If you want to get fancy build ascii boxes around text, but beware of that too, because spacing and wrap-arounds will botch those

hehehe

Good luck!

edited to add...anyone see my html mistake? That's another problem, too....

Aw, phooey. I was hoping! (All I want to do is break up my EOA message a little bit and at the same time emphasize the date payment is due, etc. Nuts.

Should I blame it all on G. W. Bush?
