Any info on this 8" plate would be appreciated. There are no marks on back. It belonged to my Bohemian/German great aunt. There are others with rabbits, etc. not in my possession. Also, I have several decorative plates with "paint spatters", like this one has. How much does that matter?
I filed away the how-to on posting pictures here - here I go!

I copied the thumbnail url - I'll try again.

Can you post or copy the info on the back of the plate? I actually know something about European stuff, used to live there and I love German porcelain, it's really nice.
The paint is a problem. Have you tried to remove it? Maybe try just one corner to see if it doesn't damage the finish?
This is a pretty one, should do well if advertised right, make sure to use the terms on the back in the description etc.. I would also have it in the Antiques/Europe category.

Thanks for your replies. There are no marks on the back at all. The spatters are under the glaze - part of the plate. A Daruta/Italy plate I also got from her has these spots too. It struck me that maybe it was just the nature of these decorative plates to have these boo-boos and no big deal - but that just doesn't ring true to collecting. Thanks again, mikeboy

Identifying porcelain with no markings is a challenge! Have you tried looking in reference books from your local bookstore? That's where I usually start. My favorite books are those published by Collector Books. Every page is filled from front to back with photos - which helps. You may want to look at the European porcelain makers such as Bavarian China, Austrian, and Meissen, since your aunt is from Germany. You might also consider looking at some of the Japanese porcelains like Nippon and Noritake. Any idea how old the plates might be? Is there any crazing? The style and design look like 20th century, but that's only a guess. Good luck!
