Bids on an item that is huge and must be picked up. Delays and delays and then says she has an out of state emergency.
I say, swell.. send me a check and I will hold it until her return.
SHE NOW SAYS
she will not send a check unless I agree NOT to cash it until she picks the item up!!
What should I tell this dear girl?

The fact that she delayed payment and then said she had an out of state emergency would lead me to believe that she does not have the money right now.

It is your auction, you should set a date for payment and also for when you expect the item to be picked up. If she can't meet your terms she shouldn't be bidding.

Allowing her to say when you can cash the check only makes for another delay with her in charge. Just tell her that you expect payment and pick up by such a date and stick to your terms.

So, you wait to cash this check until she picks up the item. Then she is long gone, and the check bounces.

No way...
