I have heard there are folks who spend all their time buying and reselling ebay items.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, they bought it, they can do whatever they want with it.
What an amateur seller might get upset about is they see their item get resold at a big profit. Perhaps they didn't do their homework. They discover that "old vase" was a Roseville item worth considerably more than they sold it for. Or that a well lit photo and well thought out and properly spelled description gets higher bids than their slapdash effort.
The only reason a seller could claim new owner is "unfair" is if they used the original seller's photo and copy without having permission.

Very well said. I spend lots of time on my images and descriptions. I check my bid against identical items and usually (not always) find my items bring in more.

I sold my first two digital cameras on ebay. I had purchased them there too.
Bought a brand new leather camera bag last year for $12 and sold it for $62
Have sold a few other things on ebay that I purchased there, but don't do it as a rule.
Nothin' wrong with it though. Once you buy something it is yourrs to dispose of as you wish!

It helps if you buy with one ID and sell with another. I could care less what anyone does with their items after they purchase from me. I get dealers in my shop all the time and they buy items to resell.
I have purchased items on ebay and I have sold them on ebay for more money. This was usually several months after I bought them. But I would do it right away also.

I have purchased may items on eBay and then turned around and sold them. I feel that if you present an item to it's fullest, you will get top dollar. Many items I have purchased along this line had no pictures or inadequate descriptions or were listed with incorrect spellings. There are many ways to make a profit.

I buy on ebay for resale on ebay all the time. I would definitely recommend multiple ID's for doing so. At least 2, 3 is better though. (Or maybe I'm just paranoid. )
I have seen people re-sell items that they've bought from me. Believe me, every time it happens, I am there taking notes about what they did better. Each time has been an education, and well worth the money I "lost".

I sell books and magazines and if I see someone put up say a year of magazines and I know I can resell them for a lot more by selling them individually I usually try to get them, break them down into single issue auctions and have done pretty well doing this. I do use one ID to buy and one ID to sell. Right now someone is reselling a magazine he bought from me a couple of months ago. All I can say is I hope he makes money as I was happy with what he paid me for it.

it goes on a lot on ebay... the market swings... When demand is low... buy when demand is high - sell. Simple as that. I bought a lot of books for about 2.00 each and am getting 15.00-20.00 each now. I start the bid usually at 1.00 above what I paid for it. However, I have found that the opportunities aren't that great to buy because a lot of flea marketers buy here and TRY to sell for hefty sum at the market. The idea really is an old one, and is worth while profit is scarce. Hitting the garage sales and auctions are still the best ways.

Related question: any of you buy on half.com to sell on ebay or Amazon Marketplace? Or buy on Yahoo to sell on ebay? Some other permutation?

musicman:
You can register as many IDs as you want and it's perfectly fine with ebaY. Just click the link to sign up and do it. You do have to have a different email address for each account though. And if you use a web-based email address (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.), you will have to register with a credit card. But you can use the same credit card for all of your accounts. The only thing that has to be different is the email address.
Just be sure not to bid on your own auctions. No co-mingling of accounts as this is a big no-no with ebaY (shilling).
