Maybe this has been mentioned?
I have started to see more auction listings with little thumbnial pictures at the top of listings, right next to the title. How did they do that? Is it an ebay feature (and do I have to pay extra for it?) or is it the seller tweaking his ebay html?

I've seen that too, and just assumed, perhaps wrongly, that they were gallery pics. If they are, it sure seems pointless...

I was thinking that too.
But the auctions that I found that have them on are for $mall items and don't warrant the extra expense of paying the gallery fee's.

It's a freebie (so far) for those who use eBay pix services. It was announced a while ago, and I think they repeated the info the recent announcement about the changes in pricing for using the eBay pix service.
I haven't been using eBay's pix service because of the awful quality, but I'm wondering if these little pix are attractive enough to buyers to make it worthwhile to toss a free pic in my listings. They don't do much for me--a little pic of a blurry picture is even tougher to see than a big pic of a blurry picture--but I'm willing to use it if it's important to buyers.
