I live in a rural area where our major "Clothier" is WalMart! That being said, can anyone tell me why a brand called Blue Fish does so well?
I ran across a run of auctions for this brand and was shocked at the prices. Also the number of bids!
I checked closed auctions and found almost a 100% sell through with prices that were well above the norm.
I couldn't see where the few that didn't sell were all that different from the ones that did. I could not see why some went for such high prices.
The last and totally mystifing thing I noticed is they sell despite the condition! There doesn't seem to be much difference in price between NWT and used. In fact, the older ones seemed to bring more than the newer ones. Many ads said: nominal fading, or fading at seams or overall fading. One item went for an unbelievable amount that stated it had been damaged in storage! How many clothing sellers could get away with that????
What am I missing here????
edited to make sure I was within CG's

Blue Fish clothign Co. was a company that was started by some girl out of her garage at the age of 19. She managed to turn it into a multi million dollar business. There items sold in stores such as Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. They recently went bankrupt however, and that may be the big surge in people trying to get these items. There may be a collectable value to it.

Thanks cabledogii- Guess that goes to show, there is a collector for everything! I just couldn't understand why someone would be willing to pay more for a well worn item, than they could get something new for, especially since they don't seem all that attractive to me.

Hi Sulyn, I sold a couple of Blue Fish pieces and they both did great. I honestly cant figure out what the big attraction is either with that stuff. Sold them before the Co went bankrupt. I think BF caters to plus size only, so that may have something to do with it. I also know that the older items sell better. But, I cant figure out how old the clothing is, so it doesnt help me any.
There are a couple of other brands that do quite well too; the "older" the better. Have you looked under completed at "vintage" Ralph Lauren or Patagonia...?!Mindboggling......

Blue Fish is one I'd never heard of, but I'll keep my eyes open for it now - thanks! Lilly Pulitzer and Nicole Miller have done well for me also.
