Why do so many people use Paypal and pay fees, when Yahoo PayDirect is free? Is PayDirect a good service?

I like PayDirect, but not many customers use it. I, too, wish more customers would use it! I think most of them just don't really know about it.

Paydirect is very much not safe. I used to use it and had money in it. I never spent it, it just built up. I log on to pay for an auction and it showed 0 balance. There was no record of the money going out in the transaction history. It just vanished. I went rounds with yahoo for months about it and they never fixed it. The last email I got from them said something about clearing cache and rebooting. What did that have to do with it??? You don't want to use it. I still offer it as an option to my customers but I now immediately request transfers out of the account instead of letting it build up.

I've used it several times and for me it has always worked great, wish more of my customers would use it.

I transfer the funds to my debit card and they show up in my account over night, Paypal isn't even close to that, usually three or four days with them.

it is EXTREMELY EASY to get screwed by Paydirect.

I had a customer who bought a batch of my items paid very promptly with pay direct.

Within a couple days once he got his stuff............he clicked a button and POOF!!!! He got his money back and screwed me in record time.

He reported it as a fraudulent transaction.

No waiting for credit card billing statements

No hassles and calling anyone running around in order to perform a charge back

No verification no dealing with his credit card company.......nothing

Just a few simple clicks and he stole his money back from me and Yahoo did not give a damn or any chance for me to respond, appeal or anything. This was all in a 5 day span of time.

Yahoo provides free email and that is about all I'll use of theirs.

Anything with "Yahoo" in front of it will give you almost no customer service. If you think eBay's canned responses are bad, you haven't encountered Yahoo's.

An eg. of Yahoo's incompetence: Yahoo ran a promotion for awhile where you could get your eBay (or Amazon) feedback turned into Yahoo credits. After three attempts (all with auto responses saying it was a done deal), I finally had a balance in my Yahoo "wallet."

A few days later, I went to use it, and poof, it was gone again.

You think I'd trust them with real money?

I can tell you real quick why most people use PayPal and not PayDirect.

1. Go to the Yahoo Message Board and read the horrors which have occurred via PayDirect

2. Many folks like myself who used PayDirect, along with PayPal, for the convenience of our Yahoo customers, have had nightmare experiences. When Yahoo started charging in January, and then when crazy with canceling auctions on TOS violations (normal auctions, not porn or such), which they didn’t inform the user of what the violation was, and UNLIKE EBAY, Yahoo didn’t just “suspend” they cancel your auction/auctions, they cancelled your entire account permanently – which also cancelled your Yahoo e-mail – AND your PayDirect account.

Overnight many of us have experienced this, one day fine, the next without warning – no account, and NO WAY TO GET INTO PAYDIRECT. We had to call Yahoo to get them to release the funds which remained in the accounts, PLUS any funds/payments which hadn’t been accepted were automatically RETURNED TO THE BUYER!!! It was a nightmare!

99% of my customers use PayPal, and to me it is only smart business to offer the system most people use. We also offer American Express via our own Merchant’s Account.

Regarding, PayDirect, I would NEVER use any Yahoo system again.
