Would someone who sells and is registered on half.com please do me a favor (if time):
I have been trying for a week, off and on, to list two books. They "can't be found" on ebay and the ISBN numbers "can't be found." I have tried then searching for the title and or author and that doesn't work either.
They are:
Space Wars, Worlds & Weapons by Steven Eisler. ISBN: 0-517-273446.
The Travellers' Book of Colour Photography (all spelling accurate--it's British), by Van Phillips and Owen Thomas. ISBN: 0-517-089289.
I e-mailed half-com support and they told me if the numbers don't work, I should try the title and author--but of course that didn't work either.
Dangedest thing I've seen in a long time. Any ideas?
I've searched for both books on some of the book-search sites and found them, so they are available out there!

posted on April 25, 2001 05:33:02 PMroadsmith - half maintains their own database, so I'm not sure how they update it - I have had this happen before - I usually wait a few weeks and try again - sometimes they are there, sometimes not. It's a crapshoot.

roadsmith, I believe it is just as Jane suggested - they are not in the Half.com database, so you are spinning your wheels if you try to list them right now.
I've had that happen several times, and it is frustrating, but I do think their database has been greatly expanded in the last few months.

Is it possible that these are UK editions? Are the prices in pounds? If they are British editions then the ISBNs would not be in half.com's data base.

Further investigation. Both are out of print. The photography book is listed beginning at $7.00 on Amazons marketplace. The art book I saw in the same place for about 15.

So, then is it true that half.com's database only has American editions in it?
The Space Wars book says in side that the "first English edition published in 1979 by Octopus Books Limited, London," and "this edition is published by Crescent Books, aa division of Crown Publishers" which must be also British? No price is listed. And of course there is that ISBN number on the lower back jacket. Bummer.
Oddly, the photography book is, while a
British book, also! distributed by Crescent Books! And no price is listed.

roadsmith - I do not know for certain that only American editions are in the Half.com database; I imagine that if a book was distributed here, even though published in Great Britain, it could be in the database.
I do know that there are many OOP books in their database. I have a lot on my wish list there, and one becomes available now and then.
