After you read the thread of Help w/email ans. you will understand this thread....

I am posting the reply I received from this person ....who I said called me a liar, and most people said "I took it the wrong way"
Please let me know how you feel and what you would do after reading this email.
The following is the email........

You got it right. I am calling you a liar, a cheat and a fraud. If you
do not like it, you can always sue me.

Every day I see the penny ante crooks posting there ads on ebay, using
the anonymity of the internet to carry out their illegal acts. I note
here that you did not include your name or address. Mine is listed
below.

You may not be aware of it but ebay has a fraud program in effect which
could cause you a problem. I would strongly advise you to read it. A
fraud claim against you could result in prosecution.

And, I repeat, any violin shop will tell you what I have told you. The
violin you are selling is a factory made violin from Central Europe
(most likely Berlin) from the 1920's with a fake label.

Please let me know what you would do......

Hmmmmm......I'm thinking he is calling you a liar! Of course that was my opinion having also followed your first thread and I pretty much agreed with BrooklynGuy.

The main thrust is that he came off rude and nasty from the start. I would have been offended also and would probably have responded to him rudely too!

The issue regarding the authenticity of the merchandise is a separate one.

I would delete his mail, and never bother with him again. You've already told him off...what do you possibly have to gain by an email fight? The guy isn't even a customer.

It can only get worse.

I would drop it. Why would you want to add stress to your life over a strangers opinion?

Well, I'm in agreement that you shouldn't bother with this person again.

However, I feel that starting a separate thread over it was unnecessary and a big mistake. People will start to read this thread, then have to backtrack and track down the other thread to get the whole story. And vice versa.

Did you ever stop to think that this person is naturally even more upset than he started out to be because of the email that YOU sent in response to his first one? (Whether he should have sent it all is another issue; it might have been uncalled for.) And of course, since your response conveniently isn't in THIS thread, at face value it looks like the guy worked himself up into a steam over nothing.

People cannot make sense of the entire story if they have to keep bouncing back and forth between 2 threads to get it.

I think you might be right, But I did it and I can't change it now. I don't think I should bother with him at all.

My advice is to drop it. Just delete and block him from e-mailing again.

I have found that the e-mails from people who are sincere in their attempt to help you usually do so in their first e-mail. Many times they do know more about the item you are selling and they will tell you the info you need and may even suggest a better search word or category to help you get more money.

The other kind of e-mail is basically one that says "You don't know squat". I sometimes respond thanking them for their interest in my auction and that I am pleased to hear from an expert. I say that if they have any info that will help I will be happy to hear from them again. Then I curse them silently in my mind and hit the send button.

I would ignore it.
And if you insist on selling things that are frequently copied, I would try to learn about them. Violins are notorious...
Personally, I also stay away from things made of cast iron, pottery and wood...

tonimar1,

I think you kinka asked for that tounge lashing after the "wash your filthy mouth" remark to him in your e-mail response.

So there is no confusion, here are the 2 e-mail exchanges....

I received an email from someone saying the following to me:

I have been a xxxxx, xxxxxxxx and xxxxxx of xxxxxx for more tha 50 years and I never heard of xxxxxxx xxxxxxx. The label is in German and it says xxxx and xxxxxx maker. It also says it was made in Austria not Germany.

In any event, your xxxxx is a factory xxxxxx made some where in central Europe, most likely in the 1920\'s. The xxx is painted to look like xxxxx xxxx. Any xxxxx shop will tell you the same.

Did you acutely think you could get away with such a bold face lie?

My reply to Him:
I don\'t think you are being very nice with your attitude, you are being very insulting.
You could address the situation in a better manner and tone. Or have you learned nothing in all your years of living?
Usually I would not respond to an email like THIS since your main reason for contacting me is to call me a liar If you want to discuss this issue, the first thing you need to do is change your attitude and wash your filthy mouth, Because your email is an insult to me and I don\'t appreciate it at all. I am open to discuss the xxxxxx when you decide to contact me and address me in a better tone,

1. Delete his email, and set your email program filters to block him.

2. Invite him to this discussion. The guy appears to be a jerk, and I'd like to see him try to defend his actions.

PS I have written to eBay sellers to try to give them some guidance when they have listed something improperly; I would never do it the way this guy did.

packer...thank you for adding the two emails.

If you feel I should invite him to this thread .....how do I do it, because I would like him to be here and explain why he needs to call me a liar...and many other fine words, and telling me to sue him?
Yes, I did ans. his first email quite strongly, but he as much as ask for it when he called me a liar....
As you can tell from his 2nd email, he is on a mission.
