To those of you who ship your eBay merchandise internationally, do you ever take time to look at some of the Restrictions & Prohibitions involved in sending items to other countries? (if you don't...you should!) Some of the stuff is understandable... like not being able to send weapons, medicines, biological substances... But, some of the restrictions are bizzare! Did you know, for instance, that you are prohibited from sending Playing cards (except in complete decks properly wrapped) to Germany?!? I'm curious if anyone can explain that one! Also... I'd love to hear other examples of Odd international restrictions and prohibitions. Share your experiences!

For a long time, FRANCE would not allow user manuals to be imported unless they were translated into French (had to be French or bilingual).
So, the USPS wouldn't let us ship them into France.

Really? You mean to say the PO employess actually read the Customs labels on your parcels?
I could have BLACK TAR HEROIN written across mine & they wouldn't bat an eye.
I'm sure the boys & girls at Customs might have something to say about it, but the PO workers never read my Customs labels.
I've never been concerned about the various bizarre rules & regs for the foreign countries I ship to, that's the high bidders problem, not mine.

I shipped about 17 packages
To Europe and Asia,
On www.Usps.Com
You can use the "rate calculator"
For international shippemnts
And they have a specific page for
Restrictions, South Korea is weird...
It is much better to check,
Because halfof the time you just dont know.
All of my family is still all over europe,
And of course every counrty has something different.
There is one thing about shipping to Asia,
Insure the item, but write it up as a GIFT
Because your buyer will pay between
12% to 39% or more depending on cost
When it comes through customs,
Which is a unknow cost to you,
But usualy makes the reciever VERY unhappy.
You can always call USP and any of the
Companies on their 1800 number to make sure
That the item is allowed, they have to have the list.
(leather items are really hard, most of Asia
Allows only specifc kind of leather, and almost no exotic ones)
