Reminds me when the Japanese were buying up our land over a decade or two back. Who could blame them? We give them worthless money in trade for elecronics and cars, so what else can they spend this worthless American money on except our land and collectibles?
In a world economy wouldn't you think our ancestors could buy it back from the Japanese?

If your ANCESTORS are shopping at your mall, I'll stay away. No haunted antique shops for me!
Just Kidding, but I think you mean "descendants".

They are just buying them to make the best cheap repros possible...which sadly, someone here will buy. And then Ebay will be flooded with cute resin repros.

international buyers of american Land businesses and collectables Are wise they dont buy these things and keep them for ever.
They buy the land and businesses and collectables they hold them for a bit and then sell it back for three to five times what they paid.

Some of the items I sell to Japanese buyers for a hundred bucks sell for 3-4 hundred in Japan. Remember when used Levis were selling for big bucks in Japan? Imagine being one of the first ones in on that action. I think a few Japanese buyers have spent and made a dollar or two off eBay. My Japanese friends are some fine buyers (and they have the money to prove it) Wasn't it almost half a million that one Tuna Fish sold for on Auction?

I find it incredible that comments which directly disparage an entire race and country are allowed to stand unchallenged. I am personally offended.
To those who find it distasteful to sell your goods to people from other countries: if you really want to keep American antiques and collectibles in America, you may consider donating them to a museum in America rather than putting them up for sale to the public.
However, if you do put your goods up for sale in a public place, I would certainly hope you would not discriminate against a buyer on the basis of their race or national origin. And, I think we would all agree that once a buyer has paid for and taken possession of their goods, it is theirs to do with as they see fit---again, regardless of the buyer's race or national origin.

(I am of Japanese heritage and don't take offense to this topic... I understand the thought behind it.)
Reminds me of a guest priest that came to my sons church a few years ago. He was commenting on how all of the minorities in the United States were having sooo... many offspring that pretty soon the whites would be in the minority. He was pushing the idea ( to 8th graders mind you) that the United States was loosing a valuable asset and that the "whites" oughta have more babies...We are no longer members of that church.

Everytime we sell something to an overseas buyer, we get Yankee Greenbacks back in the good 'ole US of A where they belong.

I think the Levi's market is still hot in Russia. I'm planning on traveling there, and from what I've been told, EVERYTHING is hot in Russia. There is a black market for just about everything there right now.
