Hi all, I picked up some pink depression cherry blossom cups (not the child's cup). Does anyone know some of the differences between the old and the reproductions? I can't find where I saw it in a book, but something was said about the rings around the top? (might be thinking of something else; senior moment) Thanks all. Janet

Here is what it says in the one Depression Glass book I have:
"The reproductions are of decidedly lower quality in color, pattern and overall appearance. Some of them even have upside-down designs. The reproductions are of a cup, saucer and, for some unknown reason, a butter dish. The cup and saucer appear in pink and delphite; the butter dish was made in cobalt blue. No problem there for the original butter dish was never made in that color. The cups and saucers are crude copies at best."
Pitchers: the old have nine cherries the new have seven.
Tumblers: the old have either two or three separate, close rings around the edge just below the lip. The new have only one ring.

Janet,
The best way to remove the cloudiness, assuming soap and water isn't enough, is to use a denture cleaning tablet. Polident, Fixodent, one that disolves in water.
If that doesn't do it you can assume some fool has put it in a dishwasher and it's permanently etched.
