17 days ago I had an auction end. I emailed as always. I waited for a response. I emailed again after a week. I finally got a response, they said they had emailed before, I emailed them and said that I guess I didn't get it.
Okay, they say that they have sent a money order.
That was about 10 days ago. I still have no money order.
This is a seller. 40+ positive feedback.
I really hate to to file NPB, but gosh, it has been 17 days, and payment is supposed to be recieved within 10 days. This whole transaction should have been over and done with by now.
What would you all do? Keep waiting, or file the NPB?

Yep! I have one just like this! This particular auction ended on April 2 - I e-mailed, response was he would send payment within 10 days per eBay guidelines. April 18, I had to e-mail him again so he responds, "I will send payment as soon as possible - sorry for the late payment." So, then last night, I send him another (still no payment) giving him until Monday, April 30th to have payment to me - he e-mails that this auction shouldn't be taking that long to pay for - however, he's only been trading on eBay for approx. 3 months at an active rate and bidding went out of hand - he is currently "trying to catch up" - in the meantime, I see he's paid for other auctions, has received positive feedbacks during this time span and also currently is high bidder on a $399.00+ auction. I pointed out that fact to him and he replied that that was "placed with a 3-4 week payment plan". So anyway, he has no negs. right now - surely, I can't be the only one he's done this to.... This auction in question is not so terribly expensive and I also have plenty more of this particular item. So, I think I will stick by my final deadline of Monday - 3:00 pm (I DO take PayPal and BillPoint) and then do the NPB thingy with eBay. I think I have been VERY patient and generous with this fella...what do ya'll think?

Personally, I file my Non-paying bidder alert on the 11th day of non-payment. I then give them 10 more days after that. After the 10 days go by I file my FVF, relist the item and NEG the loser.
I say you've waited long enough and should file for the NPB alert.

My auction description says payment due 7 days after auction end. I usually wait 10. I then file the NPB. 30 today alone. In 10 days I'll file the FVF, then the neg. I do take into consideration that servers go down, and so do computers. People have problems that happen unexpectedly. But, some people just simply take advantage of a good thing. Don't remorse over it.

OTOH...Had a sale end on 1 April...sent out EOA and got speedy response from buyer. 10 days later...still no payment so e-mailed again nicely. Another nice response from buyer saying she'd mailed the check. Another week and still no money...another e-mail from me and another nice response from her. She says she'll send another check...and a few days later, she e-mails me to say the original check was returned to her...she'd gotten the address wrong! Sure enough, after a few more days, I got paid! Sometimes things DO happen...and the fact that this buyer was so conscientious about e-mailing led me to believe she was sincere. It's always nice to report a "happy ending"!

Jwoodcrafts: your post inspired me to send out a couple of NPBs today. To my surprise, I just received a Billpoint payment from one of my buyers. Hey, thanks, buddy! I needed that $2.00. If I can scrounge 7 cents from the bottom of my purse for the tax, I can buy a chalupa at Taco Bell. This is a happy day.

I guess I am being to nice, but I think I will give them until day 20, which is now 2 days away. So if I don't get the payment by Tuesday, I will file NPB.
I have a feeling I will hear from them again after that. Probably not is a nice way either....I have one of those icky "feeling". I have already been called a jerk by a deadbeat bidder this past week. I wonder what this one will do?
I often see sellers post about buyers being slow to pay for their items.
I know that it is almost impossible to get a payment to a seller in 10 days or less.
Our little town has a post office that is only open until noon during the week and not at all on the weekends. They do put the mail in your P.O. Box on Saturday but they never open for business. We do not have local delivery everyone must have a P.O. Box.
Nothing is postmarked here (with out a specail request) it is all trucked to a larger town and postmarked there. Then it it is trucked to a still larger town and there it is loaded on an airplane.
I have had it take 9 days to get a Christmas card from a lady in the next town.
I always check the postmark on my bidders payment envelopes, and it is rare for me to get the payment in less than a week.
Sellers, please, take this into consideration when you e-mail for a payment not yet received. Some of us live in very very rural areas, just one more reason to shop online.

Hi!
I use this for bidders with a good FB history. Feel free to tweek this as you see fit ~ it works for me 90% of the time.
Hi! Over ten days has passed since the close of this auction. I believe that you want it, since you bid on it, however, payment still has not been received. I am unsure as to whether it has been sent or if you have changed your mind with regard to completing this auction. Please send an update so that we can complete this transaction.
Thank you, again, for your bid, and for your prompt response to this notification.
I use "send the auction to a friend" rather than my usual e-mail. If I don't hear from them within 48 hours, I'll file an NPB.
Good Luck!

I would like to put in two cents from a buyer's point of view. My Mom reads Sci-Fi. Some of her books are falling apart because she also re-reads them. So she bids on one of those titles. Seller contacts with one of those form responses. The auction says she takes paypal. The formal letter has two email addresses. Mom writes back and asks which one to use for paypal. Hears nothing. She has sent a letter every day for a week. Still nothing. Button on sellers auction takes Mom to place for people who need to sign up for paypal, not fo4r people who already have paypal. At this point, Mom wishes she had just bought a new one from the SciFi book clud. IT ISN'T ONLY SELLERS THAT HAVE TO DEAL WITH UNCOOPERATIVE BIDDERS.

JMHO.... I can sympathize with that. I also live in a small town. Saturday mail is almost none existent for us as well. I never try to mail anything on Saturday because in the first place I have to have it to the PO by 8 am, and in the second place, it may or may not go out that day even if I do! So I know exactly what you are talking about.
The bank I use is 20 miles away. If I send a deposit in the mail it can take over a week to get to the bank, so I just make the drive... so I so know where you are coming from on this one.
I never go the NPB route after just 10 days, I always give more time, unless I have sent numerous emails and they just won't answer them.
But it has been now 18 days, (I know Sunday may not count as far mail goes) and I think that is plenty of time.
curlectables... I am sure that there are sellers that are hard to deal with, but GOSH I am not one of them!! Hope your mom gets everthing worked out okay.
blueyes29... I once had a buyer who kept saying that she had sent payment, after a month and no sign of it, I figured "Sure you did" But guess what? After she had given up and I just figured it was another deadbeat bidder, I went to the PO and low and behold there it was! Postmarked about 3 times. It had come to a town about hour from me, then sent back to her town, then sent somewhere else then back to her town, then forwarded on to me!! I am very serious! I immediately emailed her and she was so happy! She just knew she had sent it. (I was ashamed of myself because I was just as sure she hadn't)
Anyway, everything worked out.
After this posting....I may wait 25 days to file NPB....
