I started another thread about 1 week ago about a FRAUD complaint I had into paypal where they concluded that the seller was at fault, but did nothing.
The transaction took place in November 2000.
Much to my amazement the item shows up in my mailbox today!
My first though was that the seller saw the thread and felt guilty. But NO, the package was postmarked Nov, 2000 and delivered today, 5 months later. The postmark is clear it's one of those sticker postage things you get when you mail something from the post office, and says Nov 28, 2000 clear as day.
Perhaps GOD is sending me a message that this seller isn't really a bad guy after all.

Oh MY! Did you let the seller know, also PayPal? Think of the stress this caused the seller at no fault of her own......not your fault either!

Hi,
Wow! 5 months later? Please be sure to let me know the details at [email protected]. I would like to make sure that any claim filed is clear.

I've seen some late mail since I started ebay, but this is MUCH later than any I've gotten.

I've had mail forwarded that took 19 months to get to my new address 12 miles away. It was an offer to be in whos who in h.s. and i had 3 weeks to get an application in.... It's ok I guess cause at least I didn't have to shell out $60 for a book.

I have one going on right now that I mailed out 4-10-01 Priority Mail and with DC and it still shows on the USPS tracking site as "in transit". I ask, On what? The back of a blind, bound and gagged camel? My bidder just inquiredthismorning if I sent it or not. Way to go USPS!!!

I would fill out one of those little yellow complaint forms at the post office about this one.

The postal service has come a long way. Years ago your grandparents paid a penny to mail a letter. It was sent by pony express across the country where the mail coach could be attacked by outlaws and Indians. It crossed rivers and deserts. Months later, if they were lucky, that tattered letter finally arrived at its destination. Yes, the postal service has come a long way. Today that service costs 34 cents.

If you left the Seller a Negative I hope you beg Ebay to remove it...or at the very least do a followup comment.

I am just curious...did you ask the seller for a refund before taking it to PP?
Was there insurance on the item???
If I had not received my item within a reasonable amount of time, I would ask the seller to ask the PO to start a trace. That can be done whether or not the item is insured. Did your seller not do that???
How long did you wait before going to PP?
Reason I'm being so nosey is I am trying to decide when and under what circumstances one should complain to PP or start a chargeback with their credit card company. How long did you wait?

sulyn1950 -- "when and under what circumstances one should complain to PP or start a chargeback with their credit card company."
First and foremost, correspond with the seller and try to resolve things between you. A complaint to PP is a serious thing! and it's not fair to do that if you haven't tried first to work it out with the seller. If you are clearly not going to get cooperation from the seller, then it's time to file a complaint with PP. They give you 30 days from date of payment to file a complaint. There's another thread around here somewhere about chargebacks with CrCd companies -- I think the concensus was that you usually have 60 days to file with them.
Unfortunately, traces and all that stuff (when not using a Delivery Confirmation) take a fair amount of time.
